Kevin Seifert, of the Minnesota Star-Tribune, reports during an appearance on KFAN-1130, Minnesota Vikings (http://www.kffl.com/team/23/nfl) head coach Brad Childress (http://www.kffl.com/player/8309/nfl) downplayed the possibility of adding veteran free agent QB Jeff Garcia (http://www.kffl.com/player/1592/nfl) (Eagles) this year due to the club's incumbent presence at the position. "There was enough furor over a 37-year-old quarterback [Brad Johnson (http://www.kffl.com/player/1820/nfl)] this year," Childress said. "So I'm kind of surprised [to hear about] Jeff Garcia (http://www.kffl.com/player/1592/nfl)." Garcia will turn 37 later this month.

I really thought Quinn would be ours but after hearing all this, if we dont trade with Washington you can forget Quinn..

This is Childress back peddling faster than a DB after revealing a bit too much of what he will and won't do in the draft which is always a bad move.

This is smokescreen patchwork.

 @ Childish's half-assed attempt at inducing a trade-up smokescreen...normally, it helps if you don't make the comments in the first place..

He put his foot in his mouth about 11 times last off-season...trying to break his own record I see..

Coach Brad Childress said he wanted to "retract" an earlier statement that suggested the Vikings have ruled out taking a blue-chip quarterback in the first round of the April 28-29 draft

If there is a Coach I cant stand it is this guy.He looked like an *** last year after the DC scenerio. He just wouldnt let it go. I seriously hope the sucker doesnt take a QB I think they need Recievers big time. All I know is I hope Quinn comes to us...

Hes doing this so people will think we have to trade up. Its a complete smokescreen.. Saban tried to do it once saying he wanted a dynamic playmaker at WR the year we picked Ronnie Brown trying to get the Browns to trade with us but they wouldnt do it

If they don't want Tavaris Jackson, bring him to Miami. That kid got a lot of potential.

Leave it to Childress to be a real pain in the rear for us when it comes to anything QB related. I don't think he'll draft one though. He already burned a pretty high 2nd rounder on Jackson. He needs veterans.

Houston and now the Vikes. Seems like it is getting more and more unlikely Quinn will drop to us :(

BC would take quinn just so he could say "har har, I told you that I would take a rookie qb in the first round". And then he'd dangle quinn for draft picks that won't pan out. Just so he could look like a "smart guy" for a wk or so. He tries to play the role of one but he just isn't a "smart guy".:mrt:<----- ignore this "a Mr. T smiley...lol".

Yes, I think he spoke too soon on what they would and would not do via the draft. Now he is doing some back strokes to get out of the idea just in case someone wants to trade up if Quinn should fall to 7th

I don't know if he'll turn out to be any good, based on what I saw. But I did think the kid was pretty damn entertaining.
