Lets say God Forbid Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington, and Daunte Culpepper all get hurt and there are no good qb's that we can get through free agency or through trades and its our turn to select a pick #9 overall and quinn, russell, smith, and leak are all still left. who would you choose?

id take jamarcus russel and smile the whole time. In fact if russel where to drop out of the top 3 then wed know that 3 nfl gms are complete idiots. That is unless nobodys interested in a 6ft 230 llb qb that can sling the ball 60 yards off his back foot with his off hand

I'd have to go with Quinn and his excellent decision making over Russell and his laser-rocket arm.

I'd take Quinn.

He played in a pro style offense, learned his playbook pretty quickly, can read defenses and make good decisions with the ball.

According to the condition above, I should want John Beck... but I don't.

I'd love to see Jeff Rowe in Aqua & orange

I've noticed recently that the majority on this board (including me) are starting to sway in favor of drafting Brady Quinn at #9. The right decision is to draft Quinn if he is available at #9 because he will be the BPA. This is where I think we have a dilemma. CULPEPPER'S CONTRACT.

He is signed through 2013 with a cap hit of $6.9 million for 2007. I'm sure his cap hit will increase as the years go on. I know Pepp hasn't show much the last couple of years, and most of us have been in discussions/debates as to why he did not perform well. I believe he can still be a good QB behind an improved offensive line.

So why should we draft Quinn if there is a big possibility that Pepp's contract might be a problem. From my interpretation, Culpepper's contract makes him pretty hard to move and that could bury Quinn 3-4 yrs at least, maybe longer. If I'm wrong about it being hard to move Pepp, please let me know. I'm just trying to make some sense out of this situation if we are going use a high draft pick on a QB who might not see the field for 3, 4, 5 years.

My question is: Is it smart to draft Quinn if there is a chance he might not see the field for a long time?

Is there an option where we can get Quinn on the field sooner without dead cap hurting us for years?

With the 9th pick, I'd of course flip a coin between Leak and Smith. They're both leaders and can win big games, unlike Quinn. :rolleyes2

We may have to unload him like we did Feely(actually give up a pick), but IMO if Quinn is ready to start then Daunte will be moved. He could always renegotiate w/another team for a chance to start.

It seems like everytime you hear quinn you hear that obviously there most not be alot of other problems with him then. Also manning had same thing said about him as hundreds of times posted on here.

I think we all know that we should be targeting a QB in the first or second round of this year's draft, meaning in the first we should be praying for B. Quinn to fall to us. If Quinn doesn't fall to us then I think we should take one of the best players available to help out another position such as Laron Landry who has the talent to be an all-pro safety in the NFL and move Jason Allen to the corner spot. In round 2, I think we should then target a player like Drew Stanton. He shows he has the physical talent to be a good NFL quarterback but lacks good decision making which can be fixed.

In none of these 2 rounds do I think we should be trying to get a wide receiver. Many of you seem to show interest in players like Ted inn Jr. who I can not see being successful in the NFL except as a return man and we definitely dont need to be wasting our picks on him with all the needs we have outside of that.

I hope you could tell by the smiley I was kidding about Smith and leak. I was just trying to beat nay-sayers to the punch.

I don't want the next DC. I want a QB who can read and pick apart a defense.

Amen to that. Quinn would be awesome if available at 9. If not, i would go with Leak or Stanton in round 2 or 3.

I would still take Okoye or Landry with the 9 and Jared Zabransky with our 4th or 6th rounder.

Landry? He would've been a good pick...if we hadn't already drafted Jason Allen. Let's stop using the 1st rounders on defensive backs especially when there's great value later on. The 1st should be used on offense in my opinion, where it has been very helpful to us recently. Last two 1st rounders used on offense were Ronnie Brown and Vernon Carey, both good to great picks. Last two 1st rounders used on defense were Jason Allen and Jamar Fletcher, both defensive backs and both have yet to contribute decent and consistent performances in this league.

And that's even with how much I want Landry on our team.

stanton in the second.

trade #9 with someone in the 20's and pick up another second .

accumulate as many picks as possible.

there are also plenty of good qb's coming out next year.
all of which who have done just as good or better than quinn this year.

Not quite, Landry is a top notch player.
