Preparing for the league's scouting combine in Indianapolis, He was clocked at 4.33 in the 40. He also recorded an 11-foot standing broad jump and had a vertical leap of 43 inches.

Anyone else hear anything like this??

Yeah, I believe that came out last week.

He is a physical freak for sure.

I heard about the 40 time but not about the vertical or broad jumps.

SR7 posted about it

and it was reported at

While I don't put a whole lot of stock in those "local" numbers, I still think CJ is the top WR in the draft and the closest thing to a lock you're going to find in this year's draft. That said, we'd have to give up picks in order to move high enough to get him and I really don't see that happening due to our numerous needs. If we were one/two players away from a sbowl, I'd say do it. But we're not in tha position, so either Tbay or one of the other teams will end up getting themselves a franchise WR.

The Calvin Johnson thing is fun to talk about, but ultimately irrelevant to the Dolphins' situation.

That's nice. But since he won't be on the board at #9 ... :confused2

Exactly. Johnson will be long gone before the 9th pick.:(

I think hes the best Wr Since randy Moss

I think he's better than Moss. His blocking is much better and whilst he's not quite as quick, he has everything Moss has

And I can guarantee that Calvin Johnson will never play half speed just because he doesn't like where his team is.

They guy is gonna be a beast at the WR position. It's just a shame we'll have to watch it on another team.

That says it all right there.

Whoever drafts CJ, better throw their hands in the air and jump for joy, because they just got a gem. Some team is going to be very very lucky.

I think CJ might end up with the Bucs. Lucky SOBs.

So do I. I think the Bucs are the team. Hey, at least he wont be going to the Jets, Bills, or Pats. Thats good news.

what would it take for us to be able to move up and grab this kid?

Does anyone here know if his 40 time was hand held or electronic
since that would make a difference?

Thanks for the help,
Ron

Our first this year and next? Our first our second and a third? More even maybe. Calvin will be a football god...but he will be one for someone else. :(

I think it was hand timed as Johnson ran on one of the outdoor tracks at Disney's Sports Complex where's he training under the "guru of trainers" Tom Shaw.
Johnson is also working out with Steelers starting CB, Ike Taylor. In fact their one-on-one battles have been the talk of the camp.

This can only help make the transistion to the NFL that much easier.
