So to recap:

Euros waited an extra 4 months.

Euros pay more per console (with exchange rates) including the fact they only get the 60GB model.

Euros go from seeing 98% backward compatible PS1/PS2 games to "software emulation" and probably 68% compatibility.

Wow. Just... Wow.

I'd put some money on the fact that Sony will cut PS3 costs by taking out the PS2 chips in the North American and Japanese units this year, and going with software emulation. Reportedly saves them about $30 per system.

Glad I got my PS3 last December. Until PS3 has more success and games out I see that happening. It's not doing horrible though; this year the 360 has sold about 2.2 million units while the PS3 has sold roughly 1.7 mill.

March should be really big for the ps3.

I was looking over the games coming out within the next few months and it looks really promising.
