I am looking to get it also possibly just haven't decided I want to see what all the hype is about so I will probably get it in a couple weeks.

The reasons this game is so popular is because

A. Blizzard

B. Warcraft

C. Its a well-rounded MMO that looks decent on older computers & has good support from the developers. The PVP community do not get overlooked unlike in some other MMOs.

After playing it, I will just heed the warning that the game lacks some depth compared to other games of the type. So do not go into it expecting some kind of groundbreaking game play. The groundbreaking facet about WoW was how mainstream it took the MMO genre.

Chances are though, that if you enjoy RPGs at all(sometimes even if you don't) and this is your first MMORPG- I think you will find plenty of enjoyment in Azeroth.

Recently I bought Vanguard, but I canceled my subscription after the first free month due to the game's unimaginable problems stemming from an unfinished beta & launch. The game has promise, but I can't see it being anything to talk about until some time down the road. By then, other MMOs will have surpassed it's visuals and design ideas.

After VG's cancellation I resubscribed to EQ2 to get in on some good old world pvp. WoW PVP became all about Battlegrounds very quickly when I started playing there. I did enjoy the instanced PVP fighting similar to Guild Wars, but that interest kind of faded after a while.

Still I think that if the game is done correctly, Age of Conan is going to be taking up a lot of my free time down the road.

I have played this game for well over a year. I had 3 lvl 60 characters...warrior, priest and shaman.

I closed my account in December and uninstalled the game.
Quite simply, it is a repetitive grind that requires no real skill on your part. What does matter is the amount of time you invest in this game.
You can only solo so much. After that, you have to join an end-game guild and most of them require you to spend 3-6 hours 4-5 nights a week gaming in order for you to attain high level items.

Overall, it is a fun experience. However after playing it a while, I felt as if I was being played for my money. The monthly subscription costs and the point that Blizzard offered an expansion that costs $50 was the nail in the coffin for me.

You will have a good time there, but just everything is basically the same no matter where you go. It looks nice, but it is really candy coated to make the grind of it seem worth it all. In the end, it was not worth it for me.
I just wish I had figured this out sooner.
I'm back to playing Wacraft 3. :D

 Then what are my LvL 60 Necromancer & LvL 56 Assassin doing in a Evil vs Good World PVP server? Are they a figment of my imagination?

Actually, EQII has offered PVP since the release of their second expansion Kingdom of Sky. They have since already added another expansion and the main PVP server Nagafen(my server) is the most populated EQII server of all.

There is a ton of content in EQII, and the graphics fill the void that I felt when playing WoW, but also the game runs the way a finished MMO should(cough. Vanguard. cough).

Yeah there is. Been PVP in EQ2 for a little while now.

WoW is great for gamers like me who just want to hop on and play for a while.

I got all my raiding out of my system in EQ1 from the ages 16-19.

I got 3000 HKs on my 29 warrior

I have played it on private servers a little bit and I thought it was an ok game and I heard its 10x better with public server.

DX10 Mocking aside, I think AoC is going to be a popular one for the 360. It will really depend on how polished the game turns out. Im still sitting in the corner on the whole DX10 upgrade, Im just not sure about it this early in the game.

dx10..it's whatever. I personally can't afford a 2k+ system right now so hopefully by the end of the year I can (if AoC turns out any good..let's hope) if not I guess I'll try it on the 360. Although I can't imagine playing an MMO on a console. Seems too *** backwards for me.

shadow priests are awesome....nice choice! melt faces!!!

one recommendation is to go more for int/spi/stam gear in that order i believe...but int is most important....and your staff is really really bad :( that extra attack power would only come into play for melee'ing...which i hope you aren't doing hehe

anyways heres my hunter...the name is silly but thats a long story

I got about 22G... I should go splurge on a blue staff

Phin-o-rama
04-19-2007, 03:30 PM
no...honestly....alot of the blue stuff is overpriced...greens are good something with like 8int and 8stam or spi....off the auction house..

if you go to your character select screen (press "C", or even on that armory site) and hover over oh...Intellect for example...it tells you that it increases your mana pool AND affects your spell crit rating....well crits are for the MF win so load up that intellect anyway u can....spirit is health and mana regen rate, and stam is hitpoints.

not bad, warriors are tough, i played one to 30 and didn't have time for it anymore (with still playing my hunter).....looks good though...lots of stamina and strength gear

at 70 all our warriors carry around 2 sets of armor...dps and tanking sets

I figure I'll do the same thing when I get 70. Right now it's kinda a balanced set but I'm a monster in PVP.

Well people enjoy MMO games for different reasons. The social interaction in a MMO is unmatched when compared to other genres. Yet you are still able to solo when you dont have time to get into groups.

I couldnt stay interested in WoW myself since I was already playing EverQuest 2, but for first timers in MMO it is definitely the easiest to get into. And you dont need a monster PC to run WoW looking nice like some other MMOs.

Really what hooked me into the genres was the first 72 man raid I experienced in EverQuest 1. Those battles were massive and took a lot of coordination and cooperation. Raids are smaller these days but the ideas are still the same, and they can be a lot of fun to take part in(sometimes).

So, if your bored with the standard game type and have stayed away from WoW or EQ2 in the past, I would definitely recommend giving one a try. It takes a while to get used to it and build your character up, but thats part of the fun. These kind of games dont just hand you everything. Everyone begins as a noob.

yes that staff is really nice....outta scarlet monastery!!!

on the herbalism thing? Should just be a trainer, and I know the level requirement is only 35 so you are fine there......you got the best 2 proffessions imo, you can really make alot of money with herb/alch

-----------------------------

Last night in Karazhan (10 man raid instance) we did the "opera event" .....kinda hard to explain but anyways we got the Big Bad Wolf event....and basically he's a huge badass wolf that your warrior tanks in the corner and like every 20 seconds he turns someone into Little Red Riding Hood and that person has to run from the wolf for 20 seconds or so.....sounds ******ed, but its hilarious.

Anyways I GOT A NEW GUN!!!!
