I was thinking the other day,

Does anyone else remember the press conference that had Saban talking about LSU's QB, I remember him saying something along the lines that he had to work with a below average QB and if you have a strong running game the QB doesn't have to be good.
If I am not mistaken I believe this was Russell

So his coach felt he was below average.

And where did he come from? Before December he was not mentioned by anybody.

I thought LSU was a very high profile school with a lot of national coverage, why wasn't J R talked about before?

I am not too into College football so please excuse any ignorance found in the previous statement

Im not sure because that would mean Saban has the same philosophy as Wanny, and when he came here he denouced that philosophy as "wad ball". So Im not so sure. Plus, Russell didnt get much attention prior to last year.

A below average QB ? 6'6'' 265 with an incredible completion and winning percentage...can chuck the ball 83yrds. Forget about what a good QB is, what's average?

And we all now about Saban's exceptional ability to judge talent at the QB position. When Russel was "below average" he was a freshman and I think splitting time if I remember.
