View Full Version : If CJ goes #1, we should consider trading up with Tampa

For arguments sake lets just say the Raiders take Johnson #1 overall. The guys Tampa probably most covent after CJ are either Okeye or Carricker, at least one of them would be there at #9. We offer up the #9 and our 3rd rounder to move up (it would fairly close on the pick value chart). We would then be almost guarunteed to get either Quinn or Joe Thomas and be set at either QB or LT for the next 10 years.

our 3rd and number 9 overall is no where close on the value chart...

#4=1800 the #9 and our 3rd rounder are 1600 I believe, not a huge difference especially if Tampa can still get the guy they want and pay them as the #9 pick instead of the #4.

I like the idea but I don't see that happening.

If Quinn falls to Tampa, he falls to us most likely. Cleveland is by far our biggest concern if you want Quinn.

200 pt difference is a mid 3rd rounder... thats kind of a big difference...

a small difference is when you hit under 50pts... 5th-7th round pick differences

i dont know i just dont see it happening, we'd have to give up our high second to move up to 4...

That would be unheard of, to move that far up inside the top 10 for a mere 3rd rounder.

Tampa will never make that deal....That's not nearly enough to move up...they aren't going to short change them selves by over 200 points...

So let me ask this, if no one else made them offer they just draft Okeye at #4 and pay him probably at least $2 in signing bonus money then if they got him at #9.

I'm not saying you are wrong that they would never do that, but NFL teams put too much faith in that chart, they need to take the talent of depth in that particular draft as well as salary implications into account. Not to mention no mater what the chart says the pick is only worth what someone is willing to give them for it.
