As Calvin Johnson admitted to use marijuana, he could fall down a big jump..., eventhough I don't see the Dolphins drafting him...

Thu, 19 Apr 2007 08:19:29 PDT

Three players widely regarded as top-10 picks in the NFL draft have admitted to previously using marijuana, pro Football Weekly reported.

The part about him possibly dropping out of the top 10 is nothing more than you making a broad speculation, though. Everything I have seen would suggest that it will have little, if any, impact on Calvin's draft position. It really isn't "breaking news" either, since it came out yesterday.

Like it or not, marijuana is illegal and with all this new "conduct regulation" from commissioner Roger Godell, teams won't wanna take the risk spending a top ten draft to seeing them later one year suspended...

This will not effect his status one bit....Admitting that you have used pot and admitting that you use pot are 2 different things.

PeterNorth

Plus, he actually admitted it of his own free will. The ones who are usually "penalized" are the ones who try and hide it. See Claude Wroten last year. Johnson still goes in the top 4, guaranteed.

Whoever said breaking news had to be real time? Are you saying that the Welker trade is not breaking news today?

While some teams could see marijuana use as troubling, others might view the players' admissions of prior use as a sign of maturity, particularly since players are encouraged to be honest in the interviews. But the NFL's new player conduct policy, along with its hardline suspensions of the Cincinnati Bengals (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=cin)' Chris Henry (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?draftyear=2007&id=11407) for eight games and the Tennessee Titans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten)' Adam "Pacman" Jones (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7182) for an entire season, could cause teams to put even more emphasis on character, now that the league has made clear it will deal with off-the-field misbehavior harshly.

It depedns on the team that want to draft him...

No way in hell does CJ fall out of the top 10. Although i do tell you one thing, if CJ does fall and everyone passes on him and Quinn is already gone at Miami's pick, then Miami MUST jump all over this guy and draft him. Imagine that, the top player in the draft by far, falls to #9.

Also, take the poll question on that webpage. When i took it, 86.4% said NO. Thats pretty lopsided. So it makes no difference and CJ will not fall far at all.

Yeah, my bad, I found it in the news today as I saw it "new", what I meant for "Breaking" was that he admitted to use marijuana, other than that its my speculation, but I think he could fall outside the top ten...

Uh, yeah? Since it happened like a month ago it wouldn't be "breaking news" anymore, it has already broken. Is 9/11 still "breaking news"? How about the "war on terror"? No, just because it is "big" news doesn't make it "breaking" news. Breaking news is when news is first reported, after that initial period it is just news.

Yes, this is NOT breaking news! This will NOT cause him to drop at all! If anything, it shows he is a good character kid. This won't happen, but if he did fall to 9, the Dolphins would pick him in a heartbeat!

CJ falling ut of thetop ten because he was honest and admitted smoking some green? Stop dreaming, he's going top 5.

The new player conduct policy has nothing to do with drug testing. The guy could admit to smoking pot everyday for 4 years and it still means nothing without a positive test.
