Well everyone should take it with a grain of salt, like everything this guys says. But on 1st and 10 he said the Dolphins are going to trade up and get JaMarcus Russell at No. 2.

This was his opinion though. He made note he has yet to hear this from anywhere else.

I don't have exact figures to back this up but I would say that Skip Bayless is right in his predictions probably somewhere around 20% of the time. The trade to move up to #2 doesn't make sense for the Dolphins due to how much we would have to give up. And drafting JeMarcus Russel, assuming the Raiders take Calvin Johnson #1 overall, with Brady Quinn still on the board makes less sense as the Dolphins are obviously more interested in acquiring Quinn than Russel.

Goes against all line of reasoning for Miami. Russell does not fit the offense and trading up that far is absurd.

Does he understand we already have him on our roster?

6-4 250lbs, strong arm, mobile and questionable decision making.

No thanks.

Beat me to the punch.

Jamarcus Russell reminds me way too much of Daunte Culpepper. He has all the phyiscal tools but is not a very bright guy. I'm sure he'll put up some nice stats but he doesn't strike me as the guy who will win Super Bowls. Brady Quinn looks more like a quarterback you can win championships with.

EDIT: Shane is right, Bayless should never be listended too ever. Isn't he the reason Woody Paige went back to Denver?

I would puke if Russell somehow ended up being a Dolphin.

He may look great in shorts but he will not be a successfull NFL QB.
There's no guarantee that Quinn will either but I like his chances much more than Russell.

Why not give some reasoning about why u think this way instead of just putting out a random opinion w/o anything to back it up with.

You guys who write this stuff have obviously not seen Russell play and don't know much about him other than the ESPN highlights.

Russell is an honor student who ran an offense at LSU that was every bit as complicated as the one Quinn ran at ND. He was responsible for the initial read and checks at the line of scrimmage on every play.

ANother thing, the offense that LSU ran last year was a lot like a West Coast offense. It was a controlled passing offense with numerous short routes, bubble screens and crossing patterns. That is why he is a perfect fit for the Raiders. A number of the deep balls that you saw Russell throw were the result of Russell reading the coverage and checking off, or making a play outside the pocket. His west coast capabilities and unparalleled ability to throw the deep ball make him the perfect fit for Kiffin and Al Davis.

The player in the NFL that Russell most resembles is Carson Palmer, not Daunte Culpepper. Russell is a tall pocket passer who makes quick reads and has the ability to throw the deep ball effectively. He is tall, but mobile enough to escape the rush and make any throw. He is not someone who holds on to the ball and is always looking to throw deep. Russell has improved each week while he has been in college and will probably improve even more once he gets to the pros, his ceiling is higher than that of anyone in the draft, including Calvin Johnson.

Russell fits our offense perfectly. Big, strong pocket QB, big arm, accurate.

The knocks on Russell are becoming absurd. A lot them seem to be coming from fans of Brady Quinn. Sort of like a 'tit-for-tat' thing. Brady can't win the big game so his supporters say 'Russell is dumb and can't make reads'. Russel brings something to the table that Quinn can only dream of: a cannon of an arm that has people saying the last timne they could remember a guy coming out of college that was so unique was Elway. Of course an arm isn't everything for a QB but when it's something this special you have to be intrigued. Somehow, along the way, Russell got labelled as being stupid and not able to make reads. :shakeno: Quinn is said to be more 'NFL ready' which may be true because it was a Weis offense but when an authority such as Tom Martinez says that Russell is a quick learner I'm not worried about him learning the NFl system. Lots of former QBs such as Marino and McNair were said to be stupid. Where are the people who said those things now? The only thing that Brady Quinn does far better than Russell is handling the media, and Russell doesn't do too bad of job. But Condon is out 'pimping' Quinn and it seems to be working. America and many football fans are swallowing this guy up. They're calling him the next Tomn Brady or Peyton Manning. Keep swallowing, Quinn fans, but don't complain later that crow is hard to digest.
