View Full Version : holdout question

Like eli manning did when it obvious the chargers were going to take him, and he said in no way shape or form would he play in SD, is there any way an incoming draftee could tell the team with the #1 pick "there is no way i will sign for less than $ X million dollars, so if you're not going to pay me then don't pick me"... ?
lets say russell doesn't care who drafts him, he just wants to make a crap ton of money... and tells teams he'll hold out if whoever drafts him isn't willing to pay up.
do they trade the rights?
let him holdout?
is this what alot of high-end draftees think, but don't announce publicly because of PR reasons.

if he won't sign, he has to sit out a year and re-enter the draft unless he's traded.
