Everyone is saying we need to draft O-linemen because of all the players that were released, right? Well, what if Cam and Houck don't feel that we have to use 1st day picks on OL because they feel we ALREADY have our LT and LG on the roster? Remember, they cut loose a fistful of veteran O-linemen and kept these young players that Houck has been working with for 1 and 2 years. If this is the case, then we can be using those picks on "impact" players like Randy and Cam have been saying that they plan to do. Maybe they just feel they need to pick up a couple of 2nd day picks to add depth to our O-line? Wouldn't that really shake up the way our draft would procede? Can anyone tell me for sure that we're going to draft O-line early? I don't recall Randy or Cam ever saying that we were going to draft P-line early, they just said they were going to draft more o-linemen at sometime during the draft.

I don't think there's anything covert about Miami's interest in Quinn. :D

I feel as though we need not worry about o-line in the first round and if quinn doesnt fall to us i see us drafting a player who can make significant contributions. I like ginn but not at 9. I know its defense but i would love to add landry. I think the drafting of quinn could be a bad idea for cam because then he basically puts all his faith in him since he used such a high pick on him. I'd rather see a qb in the second round for cam's sake. I think we should trade down and pick up another day 1 pick.

"BUILD FROM THE INSIDE OUT"

Where have you been the last four months?

And as far as trading up..........................dream on kid.

QUANTITY OVER QUALITY=NO TRADING UP UNLESS IT'S RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP.

No need to post like this. :ninja: Trading up doesn't come cheap, depending how far up it is.

Agree. I think there will O-line talent still available in the 2nd. Grubbs and Kalil will most likely be gone, But you have Sears, Ugoh, Blalock most likell available at 40 , and Satele, Free, Alleman still there later in the second. I think the first round Miami will go best player, and don't be shocked if thats Adrian Peterson.

I retired from the Army in '91. 20 years, last 18 as Special Forces. Hate seeing all these kids being thrown to the dogs and not being there with them.

To me its simple. You draft guys that can start right away and for a long time. Just as much as you can get a OL in the second round, so can you get a QB in the second round. Chances are 80-20 that Quinn goes before 9 so that means trading up. That means we lose a second rounder.

Now, back to the OLine. Go to the roster page and stare at it a while and think about five years from now.......let me know how you plan on going to the playoffs any time soon. GOOD OL should be taken when available.

Those who believe in the Jimmy Johnson theory are crazy. Yes you can find good linemen in later rounds, doesnt mean you will. Alabi, Toledo, Hadnot are mid to late round picks. I do not see any great future with them. The one guy we did draft who is a starter who is very good is Vernon Carey. He is a first rounder. Sooner or later people have to start to see the picture here that was clearly laid out by management, and now we are going to get these guys ala Jimmy Johnson stylie?

No way. The best thing this team could do for itself is get Richmond Webb and keith Sims. That is Levi Brown and Justin Blalock. Bingo.......were on our way for a long time runnin. Screw the Patriots!

Ok so what r u trying to say we are going to draft a center at 9. Just because he believes that you build from the inside out does not mean we will pick o-line high, just that we will probably draft some o-line some where during the draft. There has to be value also at the pick. And what if his idea of build from the inside out has already started with the young guys on the roster already just as the poster said.

I agree with your theory but don't agree with the players. What if Mueller thinks Brown not very good, not syaing he does. I o not agree at all that Brown is a top LT which is what u look for in the top ten. I think we should give Albi and the young guys a chance this year, and then if they can't do the job look at LT next year as it is a much more talented and deeper class. Just look at next years class.
Rank Player Height Weight Year School
1 Jake Long 6-7 315 Jr. Michigan
2 Sam Baker 6-5 305 Jr. USC
3 Gosder Cherilus 6-7 320 Jr. Boston College
4 Kirk Barton 6-6 310 Jr. Ohio State
5 Heath Benedict 6-6 320 Jr. Newberry
6 Barry Richardson 6-7 335 Jr. Clemson

Out of next years class the top 2 were ranked ahead of Brown this year. Cherilus has very good physical skills and could also rank very high. Plus Barton was also a head of Brown on the coaches votes for All Big ten team.
So instead of reaching for Brown at a need position we need to look at adding the best Talent. We are still in a half rebuilding phase. We are not going to be superbowl contenders overnight.
