I am new on this board, i've been a Dolfan since 1st grade, we were undefeated that year which explains my age (40 years old) I've seen alot of Dolphins football in my days but this is the first time since the man with the anvil jaw use to pace the sidelines (Don Shula) , that we are addressing a very important need , it's long overdue but we finally have a coach that knows you can not win championships or be too sucessful in the playoffs with a good offensive line, that's why I say it's going to happen this Saturday, if Quinn is not there at 9 which looks like he won't , we really need to draft big Levi Brown, i see him being around a long time like #78 (Richmond Webb). I feel it is time to get that silly Jimmy Johnson philosophy that you don't pick O-linemen early and throw it out the window, I'm sorry guys but i want to see some TD"s this year!:)

after weeks of excitement with the thought of Brady Quinn - I'm starting to prepare myself for the announcement of Levi Brown as our selection....

Welcome to the site……………I was 11 when we went undefeated and that was a really great time to be a dolphin fan………………………I’ve looked at so many “mock drafts” that I want to throw up………..one day we will do this, the next day we will do something else, it’s really a big guessing game. On the positive side the draft will really be fun to watch this year because no one knows where anyone is going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

If would could trade down a few slots and pick up Joe Staley that to me would be better then Brown at #9.

Why I agree that o-lin if very important and u should draft them, I do not believe Brown is a top 10 type of an LT. I think we should give Alibi and some a chance this year, then if he does not work out draft LT next year cause next years LT prospects are far better then this year.
Rank Player Height Weight Year School
1 Jake Long 6-7 315 Jr. Michigan
2 Sam Baker 6-5 305 Jr. USC
3 Gosder Cherilus 6-7 320 Jr. Boston College
4 Kirk Barton 6-6 310 Jr. Ohio State
5 Heath Benedict 6-6 320 Jr. Newberry
6 Barry Richardson 6-7 335 Jr. Clemson

Both Long and Barker were ranked ahead of Brown this year if they had come out. Plus that is just the SR's. If Gaither declares it gets even deeper as he may have Pace type talent.

Just bgreen i hear ya , i've seen alot of mock drafts, rememember the days there were 12 rounds and not much attention towards it. I'm really psyched cuz we have a totally different philosphy with coach Cameron, he is old school and the closest thing we have had to Shula in ideas, i live close to Wayne Huizenga and i see him hangout once in a while with Shula, i often wonder if he gets alot of advise lately from Shula. Cameron believes it statrs in the trenches, i guess it takes a offensive minded coach to understand the great importance of drive blocking and pass protecting, with out the 2 you have nothing, we will score this year, people will be really surprised and we all will say "why did'nt we think of this before"!

I prefer Brown, but clearly Staley and an extra pick or two would the better scenario.

the only real question about Levi (besides athleticism) is if he'll play RT or LT. Not a big deal, but with Carey that could be a problem. Brown is a mauler though.

Staley is very athletic and can still get bigger but will probably take longer to develop.

There are probably 4 OTs in this draft that will be above average starters in the NFL in a couple years (Thomas,Brown,Staley, and Doug Free in the 2nd/3rd round)

In my opinion, if we can snag Quinn then we can still hopefully pick up a good linemen in the 2nd round

Aaron Sears Tennessee 6'3 319

Mario Henderson Florida State 6'6 302

Cam said in his 1st press conference as a Dolphin that it starts at the ball, it;s the truth, i still get night mares watching Dante get sacked repeatedly, i do understand he held the ball too long but some of those sacks happened in 2 seconds, we need to give Lemon, Quinn, Stanton, Beck etc... some time to throw the ball! then we will have the balanced attack that Cam wants.

LT is not as exciting as QB but it is an area of huge need. Staley or Brown might be considered slight reaches at #9 but I could care less about that sort of thing. All this talk about value when the whole thing is pretty much a crapshoot. If you have a conviction on a guy, he's there and it's a massive area of need, pick him and be done with it. We could try to get cute and trade down but someone has to be willing to trade with you and more often than not it doesn't happen the way you want it to. I'd like to come away with a QB and 2 o-linemen on Saturday. After that we better try to find a new reciever, especially if we're dumping Booker. With Welker gone why dump Booker? There must be a reason but I'm not seeing it yet. We're pretty thin at wide-reciever. I'm sure the braintrust has a masterplan. I have faith in Cam to put a good offense together.

I find it funny everybody on this board thinks Levi would be a slight reach, but he's been considered a top 10 pick for a couple months now.

It depends what way u look at In most years he would not go top ten. If you look at people big boards based on talent he does not usally grade out in top ten. Mocks take in to effect teams picking on need. I think like 7 is the highest I have seen him on a big board and I have seen a few as low as in the 40's. Put he will go higher then because LT is a premium position and it lacks talent this year. If Brown was in next years class he would not even sniff top 10. Cause 2 guys next were already rated higher then Brown if they would have came out this year.

We lose Booker, gain Trent Green, draft Levi Brown 1st round, 2nd round A we draft Dwayne Jarrett and 2nd round B we draft John Beck. Why don't we get rolling on our QB's , i'm talking about doing something with Culpepper and Green. We should just be firm and say to the Chiefs you can take Booker and you give us green and a 5th or NO DEAL! Get tough with these guys, so what we don't get Green now we focus on the draft, is Green being used for something, what i mean is are we showing that we are more commited to being a player in a possible deal with Detroit by showing that we want theri pick and if we got Green already there is a possibility we could be a threat to get Johnson too.

I'm pretty new also, But i been reading way to many mock drafts and alot of them have the fins taking levi but to be honest Quinn will be long gone thank god! He's hardly won a big game. Mark my words the fins will take a # 9 pick Patrick Willis. Second at #40 will be a LT/Guard position and Second #60 Trent Edwards. Think about it

If Ben Grubbs is there at #40 We better pick him up. Dudes a beast in the trenches, something we need.

Levi Brown has always failed to impress me...I'll root for him to succeed...but I just don't like the pick especially at 9...I think its a major reach and the only reason he is considered that high is his position.

I agree with u on this one every time I have seen him he just unimpressive. He does not dominate like u would think and tends to get beat often. I agree with that he is high because his position and lack of talent at LT this year.

For what it is worth, Sirius NFL radio guys Pat Kirwan, Tim Ryan, and Randy Cross were evaluating OL (at senior bowl practices)and they went on and on about how un impressive Levi was performing against the senior bowl DL. Maybe he was just having a bad day. If he has some good days and bad days I don't want to use #9 on him.

Levi = Tarrik Glenn and he starts right away

Staley = second string LT behind Alabi until he puts more weight and strength on.
Not a good scenario for this year. We will have to wait for a couple more years to make some noise and our team will look totally different.
