The ops in my favorite mIRC channel closed down the channel today because of that. The founder of the channel was sharing about 200,000 files and she was scared so she stopped and banned file sharing in her channel. Oh well, I say catch me if you can!!

We can start a Waste network. It's private and can't be monitored by the RIAA.

Sounds great to me but I don't know what it is so teach me or tell me or set it up or whatever has to happen. I have about 23gb for people to leach away on.

Waste was created by Justin Frankel, who of Nullsoft (Winamp). He created Winamp, Gnutella, and Shoutcast before this. Anyway, he created Waste and posted it on Nullsoft's site (which is owned by AOL). Within 24 hours, AOL yanked it...saying it was their property. Well, Frankel immediately quit Nullsoft after that.

Waste is program that creates a privatized/secure network that supports 10-50 nodes. Strictly peer-to-peer. No centralized server (which is great for chatting as well because you can't be monitored like you are on AOL, Yahoo, etc). You trade IP addresses and private keys. The private keys are encryption keys.

Remember, this program wasn't designed for the masses. It's for small groups of people to share among each other, hence the IP and private keys. So it's great for friends.

I've had this thing for two months and still haven't used it with anyone yet. But it's really easy.

We'll have to set it up next week, as my server is currently offline and I'm leaving town tomorrow. But next week should be cool.
