"Next Gears of War update adds achievements
Gamers who think they've done everything in Epic Games' sci-fi third-person shooter Gears of War will soon learn better. Epic Games' Mark Rein posted a note about the game's next update on the company's official forums (http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=570734) yesterday, mentioning that it will add new achievements to Annex and the Hidden Fronts downloadable content. In addition, the update will fix exploits and improve the "roadie run," the head-down dash players can use to quickly get behind cover. Rein did not give a time frame as to when the update would be released."

Woooooooo goooo Epic! I wonder if its free.

I sure hope it is. Valve said alll the DLs for Half Life will be free.

that sounds like more of a patch than added content... hence, it better be free.

Gears of War - new achievements and more on the way (http://www.xboxic.com/news/2963)

It seems Epic just can’t get enough of supporting their hugely popular title and quite frankly, who are we to argue? Speaking on the official Gears of War forums (http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=570734), Mark Rein Vice President of Epic Games has stated that “the next Gears of War update is coming along nicely” and has provided just a smidgen of detail.

The statement made today on the Gears of War (http://wiki.xboxic.com/Gears_of_War) forums reads:

Folks,
The next Gears of War update is coming along nicely. We don’t have a release timeframe for it yet but I just wanted to let you know we’re making significant progress. In addition to the previously mentioned plan to improve roadie run we’re also going to have new achievements relating to Annex and the Hidden Fronts DLC. Of course no title update would be complete without more exploit squashing and the ever-popular “general housekeeping”.
There we have it, though we don’t have the all important time frame, we do have an interesting revelation in regards to the new achievements. As the new achievement guidelines (http://www.xboxic.com/news/2329) have allowed developers to make a further 250 Gamerscore points available via marketplace additions, it’s fair to assume that the upcoming Gears update will utilise that feature. Gamerscore whores, rejoice.
As is always the case, pricing has been the most common question and Mr Rein has taken the time to add the following:

The title update is free and that’s what contains the achievements. However some of the achievements are tied to things relating to playing the maps in the Hidden Fronts map pack which currently costs money but will be made free in a few months.
Unfortunately that means that many of us may have to wait until September to accomplish some of the forthcoming achievements. Nevermind, those of us who don’t yet have the maps can be at ease in the knowledge that we’ve gained an achievement of our own:

All kidding aside, we’re delighted to see the game being given ongoing support and we’ll be keeping you all updated with more details as soon as possible.
