Pro Football Weekly is hearing whispers that the Ravens will not trade Ray Lewis for anything less than a first-round pick. Should miami jump for this impact player?

He will probably wind up in New England. They have 2 1st rounders AGAIN!

A first round pick? :sidelol:

Honestly, I don't think there is room for him on the Dolphins roster. Our LB core is pretty well set with Crowder/Thomas/Porter. He will be traded to a team who needs a LB. However, I don't believe he wants out to begin with.

Ray Ray sucks in the 3-4 defense...

If Ray Lewi was about 5 years younger then I would consider it. I would not give up a 1st rounder for a 32 year old LB, no matter who or how good he is.

There is no way any team gives up a 1st round pick for Ray Lewis. Not even a 2nd.

I don't think Miami would do it. Lewis isn't playing at the same dominant level he did in past years. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great player, but he has a lot of years on that body and Miami needs to start injecting youth into its roster (which Randy & Cam are already doing). Plus, we need to save our high draft picks.

Ray Ray sucks in the 3-4 defense...

To be fair he had a horrible defensive line for the 3-4 and that is what usually makes the linebackers look good, when they have big space eaters up front.

He isn't a 3-4 LB, its one of the reasons they changed back to a 4-3 after being a 3-4 team for a year. Just didn't feel he was as effective in the 3-4.

I can see him in Tampa. It's not even an hour away from his his hometown Lakeland. Plus he would be a great fit in that defense that values athleticism at the LB position. He and Gruden seem to be a great fit.

Enough logic presented. Ray L. is past his prime and it is not a need. I can buy into the fact that somehow he might end up with the Pats though. BB and the rest of the evil empire wants another ring now no matter future consequences. Them getting Randy Moss sealed that theory for me.

Compensation is too high, hasn't played at a high level in years (injuries), too old, malcontent, doesn't fit the system.

A first round pick on this guy would be absurd.

We absolutely have no need for him and he is also injury prone not having played a full season since 2003. Also, just imagine what his cap charge would be. He def isnt worth that

Could you imagine that LB corp? Cato June, Ray Lewis, and Derrick Brooks. Man would that be sick. I don't think he is worth a 1st round pick though. He is starting to get old and isn't as good as he used to be, but he is still great

I would have given a 1st for Ray, six years ago, but unlike Zach, Ray Ray has lost a step, and is frequently bit by the injury bug, not worth the pick, nor the contract he will undoubtably demand.

I wouldn't mind Lewis on our team but not for a first rounder. We need draft picks for the team, not guys who'll contribute a few years then leave.

You really shouldn't say things like this. It's very well possible that a team could give up a 1st, or a 2nd. Unless you're every GM in the NFL, it just sounds arrogant.

I'd say there's very few teams that wouldn't take a guy like Ray,maybe not a first rounder but definetly worth a look. There's no room for him in Miami, but Tampa would be a good fit, maybe throw in Simm's and 2nd or 3rd.

He had some years that were not so good.

Yet his stats don't reflect it at all.

Last year was a down year, but other than that you can't really point out which years were bad ones just by looking at his stats. The only years he was under 140 tackles recently he only played 5 and 6 games respectively.

No I wouldn't trade for him either, just making a point.

I think our front seven is among the very best in the league...the secondary is what really concerns me. I like Yeremiah Bell at safety, everyone else can easily be replaced in the secondary. We need a shut-down corner, like we had with Madison and Surtain a few years back.

Great, lets trade a first for him, we'll have the league leader in "falling on the pile". The guy is all bluster and no substance. He has not been a top end player for 4 years. I would'nt sign him as a street free agent.

I'd like a link to the story where your information came from-I can find nothing at all on this, not on Pro Football Weekly, Baltimore Sun, NFL.com, etc. I live in Baltimore, and according to Ray himself, he has never been happier and readying for a Super Bowl run in 2007.
