Don't know how trust worthy this site is but i hope it is not true

Microsoft Admits *ALL* Xbox360's (http://www.fastsilicon.com/#) Are Defective http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif (http://www.fastsilicon.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=285) http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif (http://www.fastsilicon.com/index2.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=285&pop=1&page=0&Itemid=60) http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif (http://www.fastsilicon.com/index2.php?option=com_content&task=emailform&id=285&itemid=60) Thursday, 12 July 2007 var sburl4748 = window.location.href; var sbtitle4748 = document.title;
http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif (http://www.fastsilicon.com/images/stories/news/xbox360flames.jpg)If you thought that Sony was the only console manufacturer having a really bad day, guess again. After many months of public complaints and outcries, Microsoft (http://www.fastsilicon.com/#) has publically admitted that *ALL* (as in every single one ever sold) Xbox360's have a design defect that can lead to their failure. Though Robbie Bach, head of Microsoft's Xbox360 Division refused to elaborate on the issue, the general consensus is that it's one of botched thermal design management and inadequate dissipation of heat leading to component failure. All of the nearly 12 million units currently in the hands of consumers are effected. Though Microsoft has not issued a global recall, they have tripled the warranty coverage period, and are expected to have to dole out over $1 Billion to correct the situation. CRN Australia Reports... (http://www.crn.com.au/story.aspx?CIID=85600&src=site-marq)

Microsoft has admitted that every one of the 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles (http://www.fastsilicon.com/#) sold in the past 19 months suffers from a design flaw that could cause the device to fail.

The firm will extend the warranty coverage from one to three years to compensate consumers, but does not plan to instate a recall or exchange programme.

Microsoft gaming chief Robbie Bach claimed in a conference call with financial analysts that the design issues surfaced recently.

My 360 never attacked me, cheated me out of money, or ****ed my girl friend. So it's not so bad.

Sure they all are made the same way but not all fail. All can but many don't.

The problem is inadequate cooling system, so all you need to do is buy a cooling fan like this one (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Glow-Stand-Fan/dp/B000H98C36/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-9544217-4381512?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1184343861&sr=1-1) and you should be fine. At least that's what I'm gonna do :D

At least that's what I'm gonna do :Di'm pretty sure they debunked that cooling fans actually extend the life of the console. plus my little bro's died and he had a cooling fan since he bought it.

On the other spectrum, my roomie never had a cooling fan... got the thing on launch week and his never died.

Well ****. Why don't you just kick me in the balls, it would hurt less.

Man, if my system dies I will cry like a little girl. I've had mine for about 6 months and it hasn't gave me any problems yet.

Between work and college, I don't get much time to play though. Hopefully it will stand up to the all night sessions of Blue Dragon that I forsee in the future.

I had no problems for 11 months, then BAM! Stopped working once my roomie tried to turn it on one day.

No problems here since I bought mine in February 2006. [/knocking hard on wood]

Like Lukin, my biggest problem with the 360 is not having enough time to play everything I want to play.

No, I had an extended warranty at Gamestop, so I just swapped it out. This was before they announced thier 3 year warranty extension.

I got mine in March 06 and it died last week. Just sent it in yesterday to get fixed under warranty. Still sucks though since it takes about 2-3 weeks and All Pro Football comes out next week.

The 360 elite doesn't have this flaw does it?

I bought the 20 GB 360 on launch day, it's starting to freeze more and more. I'd like to sell my 360 but can't in good conscience sell it, knowing that whoever gets it will be getting a defected product. Even if Microsoft does fix my 360, I plan on getting the elite.

You could trade it in towards an elite, since they "refurb" them anyways.

Or you could say when you're selling it, that although it has been gaining a tendency of game freezes, Microsoft extended warranties to 3 years, which means it will be repaired for free should it need it.

are All 360's bad?Yes.

The X-Clamp inside the 360 is the root of 95% of the problems associated with the "3 red rings of death". Since all 360's are built with the X-Clamp, all of them will fail eventually. There are hundreds of threads on the subject (google it), but most originate from this forum.

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=595746

This is why Microsoft made the generous, but unprecedented move of giving customers a 3 year warranty now.

Any idea who has the best trade in offers for an Elite?

....Those in the know please correct me if im wrong but,if the fan is not a microsoft product it will void your warranty. This happened to a friend of mine although it was a different style fan that actually connected to the back of the xbox.
