You can get the 2008 version also....but it's only a demo. Still though IMO it blows 06 away because you can actually play in the games if you want to (though your controll is a little limited I guess)

It's a great game especially the newer ones where the fixed players that shouldnt be on certain teams.

I'm playing 2006 now because I can do more than one season.

I'm the 98 Marlins  what a challenge it is. I'm 2-5 so far but my team looks great for the future, especially my rotation:

1) Brandon Webb 81/94
2) Eric Milton 79/93
3) AJ Burnett 79/94
4) Brad Penny 75/87
5) Livan Hernandez 86/89

I was at one point something like 20 games under .500 with my Marlins, but we made a really strong surge with some nice trades and finished 82-80 :kick:

so is this anything like championship mananger, but for baseball?
how deep is it? meaning the minor leaguers rookie,a,aa,aaa.

you said 98 marlins, so you can be team historic teams ?

You can be any team from 1901 to 2006 in the 06 version.

The newer 08 version is better because there are lefty righty splits and more detailed stats, but the 06 version is also very fun. Yes there is rookie ball, A, AA, AAA and such to develope your players in and track their minor league stats. It's a great game if you really love baseball, but you can't actually play in the 06 version, you pretty much build your team and sim. Great game still though.

I think I have the best pitching staff all time

Year 1959 (been playing since 1901)

1) Warren Spahn 95/95
2) Sandy Koufax 99/100
3) Jim Bunning 96/96
4) Juan Marichal 93/97
5) Don Drysdale 96/96

My team is stacked since I made so much money in the early years I can afford great free agents  it's fun.

that is a stacked rotation... damn.
this game is a lot more addicting that i thought it would be...
i think im too damn impatient. im constantly searching for a 2b and lf while not lettin the current guys get a chance. fun stuff though.

Developing players can be really really hard, it took me a while to figure out you have to progress guys slowly......

A good rule is this:

40 to 49 overall - Rookie League
50 to 59 overall - A Ball (then later in the year AA)
60 to 69 overall - AAA
70+ Bench player or starter depending on team.

Being a small market team is really really hard since your budget is really tight.
