July 23, 2007 - We have to admit we weren't in love with Nintendo's Wii Zapper bracket when we went hands on with it at E3 the other week (story) (http://gear.ign.com/articles/804/804382p1.html). The tommy gun style two handed grip wasn't really our cup of tea, nor was the somewhat unresponsive mechanical connection between the Zapper's trigger and the Wiimote's trigger.

As expected, third party manufactures are beginning to offer their own takes on Wii gun brackets, and today we got word of the Rifle Gun Prop for Wii that is being sold by dealextreme.com. The Wii Rifle bracket ditches the tommy gun approach in favor of an old west style short rifle. The bracket houses the Wiimote in its more forward extremity and the nunchuck in the grip, and provides full access to all buttons on each. The Wii Rifle can also 'break' somewhat like a barrel loading shotgun, though we can't fathom what real utility this could have for games.
