Microsoft lowered the price of the 360 HD-DVD add-on to $179 and is now also giving 5 free movies with the purchase to try and match Sony.

Seems cool, but I don't think the Blu-ray machine can be stopped.

This won't work for them. Blu-ray is the next big thing. Everytime I watch one of the things I'm impressed over and over again. People don't buy xboxs to watch movies anyway.

I really don't think a $20 price drop is going to make a difference. Its almost not even worth doing.

agreed....especially since i paid 149.99 a long *** time ago from circuit city (with the 49.99 off 199.99 purchase or more coupon i stole from the internets), which came with king kong and the 360 media remote....

Yeah there are already I believe five production companies that only put their movies on blu ray. I know Disney is one of them and I think the company that does James Bond (MGM I think.) is another. All HDdvd has is Universal so the result is a better selection of blu rays for the most part. I wouldn't bother with this if I owned an xbox.

BJ's Wholesale Club stores to carry Blu-ray exclusively along with Target stores.

The last time I talked to my Microsoft rep, he mentioned Microsoft has a blu-ray player waiting for release for the x-box 360. You heard it here first.

lol a long time ago

M$ didn't want to tie themselves to either format. if you think about it, it's smart.

by not including an hd-dvd standard in the 360, it helps them avoid being drug down by the failure of that format.

its the same reason why they didn't put built in wifi in the 360.....because it would be "g" band, and technology moves so fast that the machine would be limited in that sense to only "g"......"n" is already out and routers being sold, the wifi in the ps3 will always be "g"....

for online gaming i hard wire anyways, its much more stable.
