THOMAS DEAL REACHED
It's now official, even if the agreement isn't signed. The Browns have a deal in place with tackle Joe Thomas (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm#), the No. 3 overall pick in the draft.
Originally reported by Adam Schefter of NFL Network and confirmed by John Clayton of ESPN.com, Thomas signed a six-year deal that easily reduces to five. The contract has $23.5 million in guaranteed money and could have a maximum value of $42.5 million.
The Browns now can focus their attention on getting quarterback Brady Quinn under contract.

I hope by tommorrow Ginn has signed...

More importantly, they should have Jamaal Anderson's signing as a basis to go by. The trouble with that may be that he signed a 5 year deal, and Miami might want to try and force Ginn into 6 like they did with Allen.

Texans signed DT Amobi Okoye, the No. 10 pick overall, to a multi-year deal.

Okoye, who turned 20 in mid-June, will provide a pass-rushing presence in the middle of the Texans' defensive line right away. Eventually, he should grow into a run-stuffing nose. His addition was great news for RE Mario Williams.

Sorry Mods but the DolFans need to know the news you can merge this with my Joe Thomas Thread. If Ginn is not signed by Tommorrow then something is seriously wrong with our Front Office. In My opinion with Jamaal Anderson and Okoye signed there is no reason for Ginn not to sign now.

what's the big deal. There should be no rush, he is JUST a punt returner. They should take there time to make sure they(both sides) get the right deal.

If he doesn't sign now, I blame it on the FO, Ginn, his agent, his family, Cameron, all Ginn's friends, Huizenga, and everyone remotely involved. Let's get this freaking done!

This is the part I hate the most about the offseason. You would think after two holdouts they would stop this crap....

OKOYE SIGNS -- GINN NEXT?
Several media types are reporting that the Texans have reached an agreement with defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.
Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports that the six-year deal, which is voidable to five based on playing-time triggers, has $12.785 million in guarantees, representing a 12.6% increase from last year's No. 10 selection, with a total maximum value (with incentives and/or escalators) of $17.6 million.
Adam Schefer of NFL Network reports that the base package of the deal is $15.4 million.
The signing of Okoye means that there should be no impediment to getting a deal done between the Dolphins and No. 9 pick Ted Ginn, since the guy taken just behind him (Okoye) and the guy taken just before him (Jamaal Anderson) have been inked.
The Fins are due to report today. If Ginn becomes a hold out, owner Wayne Huizenga will be faced with the prospect of breaching his Costanza-esque threat/promise that any rookie who doesn't sign on time won't play, baby.
A league source tells us that a deal was close earlier in the week, but that Ginn's agent, Neil Cornrich, got cold feet and backed out.

Here is the blurb...

His agent got cold feet!! WTF!!! He's not getting married. Guess he didn't want to sign before the bracket picks were signed. No excuses now!!

Unfortunately it's not just Ginn. It's that agent of his. He has this fear that he's not getting the best deal for is client so he will wait until others sign before approving a deal.

You would think that he wouldn't but I have a bad feeling that he'll make one. Such as, those guys are D-Linemen whereas my guy is not only a WR but a special teamer as well.

I actually just heard this rumor on Sirius radio, Ginn was suppose to sign by the start of tc for the entire team, so his agent, siting that his client had just come off a serious injury, should wait to report until regular camp. Thus they did not sign the contract until the day of.

He'll definitely be signed today. Unfortunately, like some of you guys have said. a lot of times its the agent that holds the players back.

Does this mean we are "closer" to a signing:goof:

on a side note, it boggles my damn mind how these "businessmen" can justify a 12%+ "cost-of-living" increase for the player salaries this year.

I mean seriously, who the hell gets that in real life?? And who the hell decided upon this when they were the first to sign their #1

THIS is the problem with rookies and the contract negotiations every year. I won't even touch on the fact they enjoy waiting until 2 weeks before camp to start negotiations when they have had 4.5 mths.

I didnt view it as an anti fin article. It was more an anti-employer article...He was advising a player to hold out...I cannot support someone who is advising a 22 year old kid who has never held a "real" job to feud with his employer and miss tight deadlines. This goes against everything that makes this country one of the strongest economies in the world....Great advise....I hope that moron doesnt have any kids for their sake

No way anyone can disagree with that!

Cote encouraging hold outs is ludicrous.
