first without the trade, just a straight up Fins Mock Draft

1. Glenn Dorsey DT LSU- probably not the most popular pick after a mediocre Sugar Bo--wait, National Championsh--wait, BCS Bowl, that's the one, but i think DL is our biggest need right now as we are getting old and losing depth there rather quickly, Chris Long wouldnt upset me, but to be fair, i think the SEC has a bit higher level of competition than the ACC so that tips it towards Dorsey in my opinion.

2a. Antoine Cason CB Arizona- he came back for his senior year at Arizona and really refined his game, he went from a playmaking corner to a true shutdown corner, he is often times the most intelligent player on the field, and a true leader on defense, he doesnt have blistering speed but his ball skills and intuition make up for it, rarely gambles, but still makes plays, he would be the corner stone of our defense for 10 years. In my humble opinion the best corner in the draft in a long time, plus he won the Thorpe award which should say something.

2b. Early Doucet WR LSU- i liked a lot of people here, Barry Richardson T Clemson was one that i really thought about putting here, but i think our O line is shaping up relatively well, and that FA might be a better avenue to pursue for some depth up front. i like Doucet over Limas Sweed who was another possibility just because Sweed is more of a possession reciever which is a role Derek Hagan should be filling for us. Doucet, in my opinion is the perfect compliment to Ted Ginn Jr, because he's fast enough to beat most safeties which can prevent double teams, i also like Doucet because he has the size to go over the middle and catch the ball. He might not last this long in the draft as players on a Nat'l Champ team tend to be overvalued, but i think there are a lot of attractive WR's in this draft who could ensnare some teams.

3. Josh Barrett SS ASU- as much as i hate the Sun Devils, Barrett has what we need, he's got great size 6'3'', 231 and runs a 4.49 40, he can deliver hits over the middle, and doesnt have bad ball skills (3 picks in 06), gives us much needed size in our secondary to match up with TE's, which in turn allows our linebackers to have to cover less and can rush the passer more and focus on run stopping, adding Barrett and Cason to this secondary with Will Allen and Yeremiah Bell really gives us a potent combo in our defensive backfield.

4. Spencer Larson LB Arizona- i know this draft seems Arizona heavy, but we need an ILB and i really feel Larson is the best value here in my opinion, a tackling machine he reminds me of a bigger Zach Thomas, not great in coverage, but he's strong for his size and knows how to make plays.

5. none

6. Shannon Boatman T Florida State- a massive, just MASSIVE tackle, 6'7'' 324 and moves well for his size 5.11 40, provides us with depth on the line and would likely be an asset in the run game, good value in the 6th round.

7.Gary Barnidge TE Louisville- fact is we need a tight end, and he has the ability to be rather productive 31 catches 511 yards and 4 tds in 06, 53 for 655 and 7 TD's in 07, incredible value this low, and gives our offense a needed weapon. needs to add some size and get a little quicker, but couldnt ask for much more in a 7th rounder.

ok so now with the Dallas trade assuming we get Marion Barber and #22 and 28.

1a. Calais Campbell DE Miami, at 6'8'' 280 he's a big load and can definetly play end in a 3-4 alignment, he's fast for his size (4.77 40) and gives us a good pass rusher with his hand on the ground to compliment the way we move JT around. would be a nightmare on the LOS because of his size his ability to knock down passes becomes a major asset.

1b. Anthony Collins T Kansas,i might take Cason here, but i think he'll slip to our spot in rd 2. I think the pick is Collins, he's a big dude and moves well for his size, really shores up our O line so that we don't have to trust in Alabi and Shelton.

2a. Antoine Cason CB Arizona, see above.

2b. Phillip Wheeler LB Georgia Tech- i decided to go a different direction than the above mock because the fact is Doucet could get taken a lot sooner, but i love Wheeler. he can play outside or inside, and has the size and speed combo to make him deadly in a 3-4 alignment Campbell and Wheeler would really rejuvenate our front 7 and with Cason give us nice core players at each level moving forward.

3.Josh Barrett SS ASU- gotta stick with Barrett here, although Frank Okam was highy considered for this pick, i just love what Barrett brings to our secondary.

4. Frank Morton DT Tulane- he's a big load at DT coming in at almost 330, however he was still able to record 4 sacks in 06. Maybe not the 'answer' at DT but certainly serviceable for the time being.

5. None

6. Bruce Hocker WR Duquesne-what now? yeah, Bruce Hocker. he's a 6'4'' 205 pounder who runs a 4.44 40. was dominant his junior year going for 0ver 1000 yards and had 16 touchdowns. was still a threat in 07 for almost 700 yards and 9 TD's. he's a total sleeper and in the 6th round, that's ok, he certainly has the athletic skills to play in the league and if he could be deveolped into a big target who can go across the middle and then burn linebackers for additional yardage, well then i have to say its worth the risk.

7. Gary Barnidge TE Louisville-still like him here and think he'd be the steal of the draft.

I just saw a clip of Cal safety Thomas DeCloud- that guy can run, good size, too. Looks a lot faster than 4.55 to me. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Fins uniform.

I just have 2 minor problems with your drafts. 1st: James Hardy- too many bad reports about character,i.e., domestic violence, assault on his child? Not my or Parcells type of player! 2nd: Aqib Talib- Zone/ Cover 2 type CB, not a good press coverage CB. Other than that, looks good!

well if we get chad johnson, which today there is a report out that CJ has officially requested a trade 'to us'. we wouldnt get james hardy. we could take a DT like Red Bryant, best NT in draft. and take ss or og or olb in the frank okam pick (Late 2nd).

I met Hardy this year and although he definitly isnt the life of the party, I think he has matured and is better than these bad reports make him out to be. Its a shame for his sake since after the combine he'll probably be a first round prospect but character issues might knock him down

Dorsey did not have a mediocre National Championship game.

Just because an announcer fails to call a players name does not mean that player is not dominating and/or making plays.

Without trade:

1.Chris Long DE
2a.D Rodgers-Cromartie CB
2b.Sam Baker, Chris Williams, Anthony Collins OT whichever one is still there
3.Trevor Laws DT
4.Brad Cottam TE
6. Dennis Dixon QB
7. Best Safety available

With Trade add a 2nd rounder because 2 first and Marion Barber to me dont equal the number one overall pick.

1a.Gosder Cherilus OT
1b.D Rodgers Cromartie CB
2a.Adarius Bowman WR
2b.Quentin Groves DE or Lawrence Jackson DE
2c.Shawn Crable OLB
3.Trevor Laws DT or Frank Okam DT
4.Brad Cottam TE
6.Dennis Dixon QB
7.Dominique Barber S or Jamal Lewis S

Of course I would rather have the draft with the trades and i am sure that would change seeing as we will at least pick up 1 bigtime Free Agent quite possible we go after 2 free agents CB,OT,DT,WR,

I pretty much love your mock. The only two beefs I have are that I don't really like Brad Cottam, I'd prefer Kellen Davis and if we trade, I'd prefer Calais Campbell at 22, I think the D-line is in more trouble than the O-line.
I like the Dixon pick but unfortunately he's playing baseball for the Braves but maybe someone like Josh Johnson. DRC is the best corner in the draft IMO so I would love him 32.

I agree with the Calais Campbell pick but 99% of the drafts dont have him falling past pick 19. most have him between 9-19 thats why he was not drafted with the 22nd pick. I think DRC draft status will improve to mid first if he tears up the combine. He might even be the 2nd CB taken in the draft.
