With the NFL Combine right around the corner, I thought Id get my fellow finfans opinions on who they'd want in this upcoming draft.. so what name do you want being called in the draft.. give me your top 5 players and for kicks, 5 guys you DONT wana see in a Fins jesey.. Heres mine

Who I want to see in a Fins Jersey
1- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie- Athletic, exciting CB
2- Brian Brohm- Prototypical drop-back QB
3- Limas Sweed- Huge target at 6'5
4- Martellus Bennet- Huge TE we desperately need
5- Jake Long- Franchise LT

Who I dont want to see in a Fins Jersey
1-Glenn Dorsey-Injury prone, undersized for the 3-4 scheme
2-Matt Ryan- Basically jumped onto the scene this year, turns the ball over too much
3-Fred Davis-measured in at 6'2 at the Senior Bowl, short for a TE IMO
4-Andre Woodson- The guy looked horrible Senior Bowl week
5-DeSean Jackson- At 172 lbs, he's even smaller than Ted Ginn

Who I dont want to see in a Fins Jersey
1-Glenn Dorsey-Injury prone, undersized for the 3-4 scheme

I love how a player suffers one significant injury in college and suddenly gets labeled "injury prone". The same thing was said of Ted Ginn Jr. last Spring.

If you are going to make blanket statement like that, at least attempt to back it up with facts. Other than the knee injury Dorsey suffered a few months back, when has Dorsey proven to be injury prone?

I'd love to see Fred Davis on this team. The size for a top tier TE is 6'3" - 6'5" in the NFL. I'm talking Gates, Gonzalez, Clark, Shockey, Witten, Winslow, etc.

Normally teams up the players height 1-2 inches... in every level. Don't tell me it's not true because they do it everywhere. Subtract 1 inch and the size is 6'2" - 6'4". Subtract 2 inches and the size is 6'1" - 6'3".

Fred Davis at 6'2"... Not so undersized when you really think about it. How many of these 6'8" monsters are really that big of a force in the NFL?

I don't think Dorsey is undersized for a 3 - 4 set. He's 6'2", 316 LBS.

Davis is 6'2" just like Alge Crumpler from the Falcons. I'm not concerned. With hands like his I'd love to have him in a Dolphin uniform.

I don't think you have to worry about Jackson. He plays the same position (flanker) as Ginn Jr. We may take a backup to Ginn Jr. in the later rounds, but drafting Jackson isn't a priority, unless he drops to the 4th round, which isn't going to happen. I agree with you on Ryan and Woodson.

4-D Conner
5-M Rucker

and I want to send either our 3rd rounder to CIN for Ocho Cinco or the compensatory pick for Ocho Cinco "if" its a 3rd rounder.

reason I dont have us drafting a NT is because I have us signing Isaac Sopoaga, Alan Faneca, and hopefully Flozell Adams.

He does have some back injuries but i agree with you. 1 injury and they get labeled. but i think he is too small to play DT in a 3-4 defense. ya a 300 lbs guy too small, sounds funny but true. chris long would be a much better fit in a 3-4 system. he would be our DE and a great one at it.

I think Dorsey's last weigh-in was 316 lbs, which is fine for a NT. Besides with a NT, its not how much you weigh, its how you use the weight you have for leverage. From what I understand the Cowboy's starting NT is slightly UNDER 300 lbs.

I think he has had some back trouble, but the knee injury you can't blame on him. He was chop blocked (illegal) during a game which caused the injury.

That's like someone hitting me with their car as a walk across the street and then calling me injury prone. The injury would not have happened without some help from an outside source.

Exactly.

Why let facts get in the way of a good story.

did he gain 17 lbs since his last weigh-in from college? i think he know his only chance at being #1 is to be a nose tackle and for that he has to gain weigh. everyone wants to be #1 overall pick no matter what team it is.

Glenn Dorsey, LSU
Height: 6-2. Weight: 299.
40 Time: 5.12.
Projected Round: Top 3 Pick.
Glenn Dorsey has established himself as the premier defender in college football, capable of dominating the line of scrimmage every single week. He'll be one of the first three players taken in the 2008 NFL Draft. A strong, quick defensive tackle that can play in just about every scheme. Glenn Dorsey would have been a top-10 pick in the 2007 Draft.

everyone we had gotten (VP HC DC) all are 3-4 men. its kind of common sense that we are gonna convert. dan connor shouldnt fall to the 2nd. id like bell or goff for MLB

Thats true, but has anyone come out & said that Miami will actually be a 34 defence?

It's tough to change from a 43 to a 34 in one off season, particularly with the staff thats on hand. I wouldn't mind betting that we may start with a 43 & move to a 34 over the course of 18 months or so.

I guess we will have to wait & see

but if we are gonna switch to a 3-4 eventually then why not start drafting guys who can play 3-4? the guy that play 3-4 that we draft can still play 4-3 until we switch.

Not really. Casey Hampton was 5lbs heavier when he weighed in at the Senior Bowl.

He didn't play at that weight during the season and as I said, he now has an official weight from the NFL.

I like Cromartie, don't like Brohm, like Sweed.

Jake Long is not a "franchise" left tackle, he lacks knee bend and may end up at right tackle in the NFL.

Glenn Dorsey is not injury prone, he was illegally chop blocked by Auburn and was man enough to play through injury most of the season.
