After the combine, this might very well be a pipe dream, but I'm still gonna try to draft guys based on where they are projected to go. And I am not projecting any trades. Too hard.

1.Chris Long DE/OLB, Virginia why do I put OLB? Long projects very well to go from a 3-4 DE to a 3-4 OLB (and some say he could easily become an ILB as well). I still think it's a tough call between Dorsey and Long, and I don't believe the choice becomes obvious until the team sets up individual workouts. I think both will have great combines, and I think both will be great players. I don't think you can go wrong with either player, I just feel that that Parcells/Groh factor makes Long the pick. Plus, we'll get good publicity from Fox!!!

2a.Gosder Cherilus OT, Boston College If Chris Williams is here, you take him (but I think he'll be a first rounder after the combine), if Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie is here, you seriously consider him. Cherilus has first round talent, but he is a RT; and a beast of a RT. Was a consensus top 20 pick entering the year, but moving to LT this year kind of hurt him. Had a dominating week run blocking down in Mobile. I think Carey does a decent job at LT, but we need an upgrade at RT. Cherilus could, and should, become a pro bowl tackle for years to come. I also made this pick since it seems like have our coaching staff comes from the New England area.

2b.Tracy Porter CB, Indiana if we don't take DRC at 32, he probably won't last till our second 2nd. Porter is not a bad consolation prize. While reports on Porter from Mobile very, his talent is undeniable. Very athletic, has decent size, and is a playmaker (24 PBUs and 16 INTs during his 4 year career). Not overly physical, but that had a lot to due with protecting against the big play at Indiana. Porter, like most CBs, will make his money at the combine. If he runs better than expected (4.4 is what is expected) he'll be a solid 2nd, slower, 3rd or 4th rounder, right at 4.4? late 2nd/early 3rd. This is a name to keep an eye on.

3.Dustin Keller TE, Purdue Versitile TE, that has soft hands and is a good leader. Probably will never be a pro bowler (due to guys like Gonzo,Gates, Miller, and K2 in the AFC), but should be a solid contributor on the offense for years to come. At the very least, he should give Mr. Beck a safety valve.

4.Spencer Larsen ILB, Arizona Might not be here due to a solid senior campaign. Projects very well to ILB, and is decent in coverage. Can't really go too much into him since I haven't seen a lot of his play, but I do like what I see. Does not have horrible size at 6'1 240. Could be a sleeper.

6.Josh Johnson QB, San Diego Probably unlikely but it is very hard to project where a lot of QBs go. Small school prospect that is extremely accurate, rarely throws ints, and is athletic. Could go a lot higher, but right now this is his spot.

7.Shannon Tevaga OG, UCLA What a fall from grace for this guy. A preseason All-American and projected 7th round pick, Tevaga has fallen to a late round prospect. Not only will he fit in well with our Samoan Block, but we've got his college coach to give us insight on him.

As I said, this will probably change dramatically after the combine, but I think as of right now, it's fairly reasonable. Comments welcomed and encouraged.

Pretty good but I think there are better TE than Keller.

Guys like Kellen Davis, Brad Cottam, and Martin Rucker.

But other than that its a solid mock. Nice job.

Rucker will be gone, and IMO Cottam is not worth a 4th. Lewis might be, but not quite sure.

All I gotta say is I like Gosder but you gotta draft DRC man that kid just keeps impressing.

If we went TE, I'd prefer another guy being there. If there isn't one I would prefer going BPA (which may be MLB or WR IMO, perhaps even a G).

I don't think Johnson lasts that long, but I like what I have been reading.

Other than that, it is pretty realistic compared to many people's mocks, and I liek it overall.

it's tough, but I just went with upgrading the bigger problem now with full knowledge that there will still be some very good CBs available at the second 2nd. Though I seriously considered DRC

Keller really isn't that bad. Not a sexy TE like Carlson,Davis, Rucker, or Bennett but not bad.

and as I said in the draft, Johnson probably won't be there, but if we're gonna draft a QB, I want him (or Henne since I'm a Michigan fan)

Great Draft! I just think Tevaga(6-3 318) and, as much as I like him, Keller(6-3 242) might be a little bit undersized for Parcells/Ireland. Love Porter with 2b. I would love to move back from round 3/1 to somewhere in the middle of the round, pick up a mid 4 and have it look something like this:

1 - Chris Long DE/OLB Virginia
2 - Gosder Cherilus RT BC
2 - Tracy Porter CB Indiana
3 - Brad Cottam TE Tennessee
4 - Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State
4 - Ahtyba Rubin DT Iowa State/Frank Okam DT Texas
6 - Andrew Crummey OG Maryland/Chris McDuffie OG Clemson
7 - Jeremy Leman MLB Illinois/Jameel McClain MLB Syracuse

When did we get an extra 4th rounder

If J leman last until the 7th, I will attempt to kick myself in the nuts.

You gotta read my lil explanation. I'm just saying that I would love to be able to trade back from that first pick in the third round. With the new format that pick becomes the first pick of the second day, so teams can talk trade, adjust their boards etc.. for an extended period of time. It just seems like a logical pick to trade. According to the draft value chart that pick warrants a mid 3 and a mid 4. Just a thought.

No, I like Keller. Just saying I'd prefer someone else, and would hope we go BPA at that pick. If our draft went as you posted, I'd be one happy camper.

Obviously, we don't know how the draft is gonna go down, but I just threw that mock together using NFL Draft Scout. They have him b/w 7th and UFA. Now that I actually look at the list, I don't know who he would jump?

Personally I would have him 10th on that list at the lowest. And you are right about us not knowing, which is why I said I would attempt to kick myself in the nuts, rather than something more concrete like stab myself in the eye. ;)

Yeah, I can definitely see him moving up to 10th. Just a matter of certain team's taste. If he goes in the 7th, you gonna post that nut kicking thing on youtube???:D

I probably could, lol.

And nfldraftcountdown.com has Leman as like the 6th ranked MLB for whatever it is worth.

Only saw Leman against USC and he has a nose for the ball. But he looked VERY slow against the USC speed which is as close as you'll see in college to NFL speed. Don't see him as an NFL starter, but I bet he makes an excellent special teams guy and spot starter. Of course a lot of people thought Zach could never be an NFL starter either.

We need a DT somewhere along the way (I'm in the Dorsey camp). I prefer Mayo to Leman, and one of the other TE prospects mentioned...
