Draft Board- For Pre-Combine

Picks as we currently stand.

Keep in mind I would love to get D. Rodger- Cromartie, CB with early 2nd Rd. pick, but I cant see him slipping out of the 1st. Rd.

Also, Yes- I do realize Leodis McKelvin stock has soared- but someone has to slip to us. In addition, I know each scenario changes on who we may draft, but these are players I am considering when our pick is called.

Let me know your thoughts.

1st Rd.

#1.
A. Chris Long, DE
B. Glenn Dorsey, DT
C. Matt Ryan, QB

2nd Rd.

#32
A. Leodis McKelvin, CB
B. Phillip Merling, DE
C. Quentin Groves, OLB
(I have to add three more for this special pick-Terrell Thomas, CB and Lawrence Jackson, DE, and Mario Manningham, WR are in the picture.)

#59
A. Gosder Cherilus, OT
B. Carl Nicks, OT
C. Anthony Collins, OT

3rd Rd.

#65A. John Carlson, TE
B. Phillip Wheeler, ILB
C. Shawn Crable, OLB
(Joe Flacco, QB- slipped up to 3rd rd.)updated
4th Rd.

What about Porter (CB-Ind)?

#59
A. Gosder Cherilus, OT
B. Carl Nicks, OT
C. Anthony Collins, OT

- Really like your thinking here. I have Nicks as my pick in 3rd round.
- What about Mayo (ILB-TEN)? I don't think Cherilus is still there, but if he is he is a steal here...

#65A. John Carlson, TE

- I was told Arrington would not be there. If he is, he was my original 7th rounder, so we are on the same page.

I like your thoughts (I'm in the Dorsey camp, which changes the picks a little). We agree on the positions to be filled (except i have a OG instead of a DE/OLB).

Notice how I added alot of late WR picks, and OL, plus DT.

I think WR, DT, and OT are pretty deep class this year. So look out for some sleepers. Also, Parcells like them North East players from like Rutgers or Boston College, Etc.
(See- Phillip Mering, Jamie Silva, DeJuan Tribble, Jeremy Zuttah, Pedro Sosa also to name a few)

No one knows who will be available with any pick but #1 overall. After that anything can happen.

I love how anytime someone posts their mock or thoughts, there is always someone to immediately say "oh he won't be there". When we pick at #32, there are only going to be 30 players taken before that. And not one person here knows which players that will be.

Here are my thoughts:

Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey, and Matt Ryan are all likely candidates if we don't trade down. I wouldn't rule out Darren McFadden, Sedrick Ellis, Jake Long, or Ryan Clady, either.

I agree with you on Leodis McKelvin. He is a no-brainer at 32.

I don't see us drafting Phillip Merling, Quentin Groves, or Lawrence Jackson unless we trade JT. As of today, JT is still on the team. If and when he's traded, then Merling, Groves, or Jackson make sense.

I'm not fan of Terrell Thomas. Reminds me of Will Allen. We already have Will Allen on our roster. We need a shutdown corner.

I like Manningham, but I don't know if Parcells and Ireland would take a WR that high.

I don't think Gosder Cherilus will be there late in the 2nd. (By the way, my math might be off but don't we have the 58th pick?)

Carl Nicks and Anthony Collins are very likely.

John Carlson is a likely pick, but I'm not a fan of taking a TE that high.

I suspect Phillip Wheeler will off the board by the 3rd round. He probably won't be there when we pick late in the 2nd. I'm hoping we trade down from 32 and pick up Wheeler in the 40s.

I'm not a fan of Shawn Crable. And again, I doubt we take an OLB this high unless we trade JT.

It's doubtful Joe Flacco and Bruce Davis make it to the 4th round. DeJuan Tribble might. But I'm not a fan.

I'm not so sure Trae Williams and Mike McGlynn are any better than the CBs we already have. Wesley Woodard is definitely likely. He is simply a football player.

Ahtyba Rubin could go as high as the 3rd round. Or not. Hard to say.

I go back and forth on Jamie Silva. He's always around the ball. Makes a lot of plays. But why isn't he rated higher? My concern is that he's a great college player who might not make it in the NFL.

I don't think Jordy Nelson will make it to the 6th round. WRs tend to go higher than they're projected, not lower.

I don't know enough about Keenan Burton.
Jeremy Zuttah is likely.
And I'm not a fan of Thomas DeCoud.

I would say Adrian Arrington won't make it to the 7th round, but somebody said he's had off-the-field issues. If so, then he might slide. But then, if he has off-the-field issues, Parcell and Ireland probably won't draft him.

I don't know about Ben Moffit. He falls into the same category as Jamie Silva. They're like Wes Welker. Tough guys who play with a lot of heart, but not the most talented athletes. I would sign them as UDFAs without a doubt. But are they worth a draft pick? There's a lot of talented players, and the Fins have a lot of needs.

Keilen Dykes is very likely.

Also, based on Parcells and Ireland's history at Dallas it's a safe bet we're going make a couple trades on draft day.

It really comes down to who the last ten teams pick. That's what makes the draft so unpredictable. We're all just guessing here. Even the so-called experts are guessing.

At this point last year Brady Quinn was a Top Ten pick, and maybe even the #1 overall. We all know what happened there.

For example...

The Cowboys needs: CB, WR, OT, ILB, RB. If the Cowboys pick Early Doucet then DRC would slide to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers needs: OT, C, DE, G, RB. If the Steelers pick Sam Baker then DRC would slide to Tennessee.

The Titans needs: WR, CB, TE, WR, OL. If the Titans pick Malcolm Kelly then DRC would slide to Seattle.

The Seahawks needs: OT, DT, RB, TE, G. If the Seahawks pick Rashard Mendenhall then DRC would slide to Jacksonville.

The Jaguars needs: WR, DE, SS, CB. If the Jaguars pick Quentin Groves then DRC would slide to San Diego.

The Chargers needs: OG, OT, NT, FB, RB. If the Chargers pick Chris Williams then DRC would slide to Dallas.

The Cowboys needs: CB, WR, OT, ILB, RB. If the Cowboys pick Leodis McKelvin then DRC would slide to San Fran.

The 49ers needs: WR, OT, OLB, DE, QB. If the 49ers pick James Hardy then DRC would slide to Green Bay.

The Packers needs: OT, S, CB, TE, P. If the Packers pick Jeff Otah then DRC would slide to New York.

The Giants needs: OLB, CB, S, OT, DT. If the Giants pick Ali Highsmith then DRC would slide to the Fins.

And that's just one possible scenario. There are countless others. Anything is possible. And nobody knows what will happen. Especially this early in the process.

While going over all these hypotheticals are fun, it's likely going to change significantly several times before the draft ever gets here on who's where in the top 10, let alone the top 100. Just a few weeks ago, Dorsey was a lock at #1, Before that it was McFadden, etc., etc. And it wasn't too long ago that Brohm and C.Brennan were the next coming of Marino in the draft and sure #1's. Once the combine and indiv. workouts start happening, we'll see who really moves/stays in the top 10.

Me and you are on the same page with some picks. But, I think we are taking a big OT, 2nd-3rd rd. area. Thats where most of the talent is with this position. I know for a fact we are taking a pass rusher sometime with the 2nd-3rd area. Thats why I have Merling, Groves, Crable in those picks.

My only argument is your 3rd rd. pick. I just don't see us taking OG in the 3rd rd. where quality pass rushers, TE's, and OT's will be a plenty.

I think you need to think OG in the 5th-7th rd area. (5th rd. only if we get a comp. pick with that rd.) Thats why I have the OG's from Rutgers late on my mock draft.

Keep in mind, this is not who I think we WILL pick. This is who I HOPE we pick. Joe Flacco is a very likely target. As well as some offensive linemen I'm sure I'm not aware of. Ahtyba Rubin is a likely target if we don't pick up a NT in free agency. And so on...[/quote]

So you don't want Dorsey at all??? Wow.

Also, one last thing keep an eye on Josh Johnson, QB- San Diego (could be the all world sleeper pick) I want to see him at the combines before he is on my list.

Great list IMHO, but I don't think they'll all be there. I'd love yoru first choice at each position except 59. I'd personally like us to take Red Bryant, NT at 59. If we take Flacco it'll be at 59 or the top of the 3rd round, he's definitely not gonna last any later than that.

I also think Parcells/Ireland would love for Groves to be there in the 2nd round, as he's the type of LB Parcells guys could turn into a monster. Personally, I'd love for Dan Connor to slip that far, but I'm not sure he's going to do so and I don't even know if we'd draft him there if he did .. pity.

Yeah, I believe Groves is that pass rusher linebacker parcells wants.

So you don't want Dorsey at all??? Wow.

It depends. If we go with a 3-4 defense, then Dorsey would be relegated to nose tackle. With his injury history and skill set, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Dorsey will be much more productive in a base 4-3 defense where he can rush the passer and stop the run.

I'd love to see us land Bruce Davis. His intensity and pass-rushing skills seem ideal for Parcells.

The more I look at my mock draft the more I like it. But, I do acknowledge the some picks are a dream. Overall though it is solid. I would probably add MLB now since Zach is gone. So this does change some of the draft around. Of course FA will change all our views on the draft once we get closer. But its all a process on narrowing down our mock lists and really targeting positions and players.
