The David Martin experiment failed miserably which means we are looking for a TE that can stretch the field and be an effective weapon. Which of these tight ends would you guys prefer and why?

Fred Davis, Martin Rucker, John Carlson

John Carlson, the guy does it all and has prototypical size.

I think we could get John Carlson later in the draft because of the off year that ND had but to get Fred Davis we would have to take him within the 1st round and at the latest the 2nd.

Chris Long then Fred Davis would be a hell of a start.

i think i like Rucker a little more than Davis... Davis is a questionable head, who gets lazy finishing off patterns and isnt the ideal down the field TE option either.

While I really like Fred Davis, I don't see us taking a TE that high with so many available in this draft. My preference is the prototypical H-Back Jacob Tamme in the 4th, quote from Draft Scout:

2007: Earned SEC Academic Honor Roll for the fourth-straight year…Also a finalist for the Danny Wuerffel Award (football/academics/ community service)...Nominee for the Bobby Bowden Award from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the NCAA Top VIII Award for overall excellence on and off the playing field...Named to the Frank G. Ham Society of Character by UK Athletics...Three-time ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District pick...Started all thirteen games at tight end, ranking third on the team with a career-high 56 receptions for 619 yards (11.1 avg) and six touchdowns…Also served as the team's backup holder…Caught at least one pass in every game, extending his string to fifteen consecutive contests with at least one grab…Gained over 100 yards receiving vs. Tennessee. 13 GP; 10 GS; Rec: 32-386-12.1-2; First-team All-SEC in '06. 11 GP; 10 GS; Rec: 29-251-8.7-1 in '05. 11 GP; 4 GS; Rec: 16-161-10.1-2 in '04. Redshirted in '03.

Came to UK as a wide receiver, now a three-year starter at tight end ... Is the all-time UK tight end leader for pass receptions (130) and yardage (1,382) ... Fifth overall in career receptions and 10th in yardage ... His improved blocking has helped UK’s significant increase in rushing yardage this season ... Nominee for the Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end ... Strong student who needed only three years to complete his bachelor’s degree in integrated strategic communications; currently in his final year of work toward his master’s in business administration. 2007 (Senior): First-team All-SEC by league coaches and The Associated Press ... Has set career highs in receptions (53), yards (584) and touchdowns (5) ... With six grabs in the Georgia game, he became Kentucky’s all-time reception leader for a tight end ... Notched his second career 100-yard receiving game against Tennessee when he gained 104 yards on a career-high nine receptions, making him UK’s all-time leader in receiving yards for a tight end. - Kentucky Football TE Jacob Tamme, an Academic All-American, raised his NFL stock with a tremendous finish to his senior year. He had a career-high nine catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the season-finale against Tennessee.

Dallas Clark type, I hope! :D

I'd either go with Fred Davis (Even though USC sucks, that's the only player and Joe McNight whom I like from USC)

Or Bennett out of Texas A&M (I Hate Aggies. This is coming from a HUGE Texas fan)

I'd prefer Davis though, but Bennett can be nice also, either one would suit me.

If we dont take a CB with the 2a pick then Fred Davis would be a good pick up
