Reading Disc....Reading Disc....Reading Disc....Reading Disc.... Reading Disc....DISC READ ERROR.:yell:

How many other people who own a PS2 have experienced this problem? I fixed it today, but I don't know how long it will last. It started with Madden 2004, so I thought it was just a problem with the disc, but the guy at the store disagreed with me and told me it was the PS2. Today I got angry and ripped off the warranty label, unscrewed the screws, tore off the cover of the DVD drive or whatever it is, and started to violently rub the lens of the laser that reads the disc with a Q-tip:fire:. I set up my PS2 and on the first try Madden 04 worked. That was at about 1:30pm today, now its about 1:30am and I havent turned it off cuz I'm scared that I will lose it.

My xbox fried last week after 2 yrs. I called Microsoft and they reccommend not leaving a disc in the drive when not in use due to the eye continues to read even though its shut off. and also not to leave the game paused for to long. and also to make sure the system is sitting somewhere where ventilation can get in and out and not covered like laying on a bed or anything

Actually the PS2 tends to have problems after about a year-year and a half, I have seen/heard many folks have that proplem.

If you don't get it fixed and have to get a new one, I suggest getting the 2 year extended warrenty, then you be sure to be good for 2 years.

Well us xbox owners(HAHAHAH) just want to let you know that all systems that Use a red eye to read any type of disc shouldnt be left running when not needed. and definately should be overused.

Well, supposedly the new PS2's have fixed the disk read errors that plagued the PS2 in the past, but I still reccomend getting an extended warrenty to cover yer butts.
