:woot: I am in favor of non-lethal means to disperse riotous crowds. On the battle field, against forces intent on killing allied troops, I prefer large caliber weapons.

I take it a Gatling Gun would be for your option 2? :D

Perhaps you like to take down enemy from afar so maybe a .50 Cal Sniper rifle is more your style?

Crazy. Wouldn't wanna come near that. Though they've been working with the weapon for some time and it's yet to be mass-deployed.

Smart aleck ;)

Nah, 5.56 mm works just fine. It beats throwing marshmallows at them or begging them to behave.

It doesn't explain the mechanics and elements of the weapon, that's obviously classified. But, I wonder if they are using an intentionally low setting. If so, what effect would a high setting have. Vaporization maybe?

BTW Malcolm, I've tried pm'ing you without success. If those goes through, I can post but not pm.

I dont know if it could be used to disperse rowdy crowds as it seems to be a narrow beam .

I can see where it can be used to move people out of your way though.Say in a concert or in a crowded street.:winkwink:

Its probably based on a variation of an infrared/UV beam

I winder what the range would be ?

hmmm, does it actually heat the subject, or excite the nerve ends to "think" they are hot?

Apparently the ray blast is about 130 degrees. I'm wondering if you got hit long enough it could cook your insides? Its probably non lethal because no one has felt it for more than 5 secs.

Doesnt it just cause pain?

Well it only burns the top layer of skin. It can cause rashes, boils, and sometimes 2nd degree burns. Pretty neat weapon, now if they can somehow make it handheld.
