With his demands for a new contract unmet and plenty of strangers to the organization getting paid a lot of money through free agency, Jets receiver Laveranues Coles might not be showing up (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2008/03/17/2008-03-17_jets_sign_te_bubba_franks_as_laveranues_.html) for the start of the team’s offseason program on Monday.
Last month, Coles claimed that the team lied to him (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/02/16/coles-says-jets-lied-to-him/) regarding his contract status.

Laveranues Coles has reportedly informed teammates that he won't report to the Jets until training camp in late July.

Most workouts are considered "voluntary" until then, so it's not a major deal. GM Mike Tannenbaum and Coles have been in talks about his contract, which will expire after the 2009 season. The Jets have offered to guarantee both his remaining salaries, but Coles wants an actual extension.
