So... DiCE is working on what looks like the next big BF hit. Besides 2142, I've been a huge fan of every BF game. 1942 (and the expansions -- Especially the Dessert Combat mod), BF2 (PC and console versions)... One might say I'm a fan of Battlefield. A BF kinda guy. Bad Company seems like a little departure from their online-only roots, but still interests me nonetheless.

DiCE is holding a closed BETA for BF bad company. The servers go active March 25th. I don't have a clue what you have to do to get into the BETA... What I do know is that the BETA game disc leaked. I hope it doesn't get me banned, but come server green light, Mor will be on :)

I tried getting a beta key from ign but all the public ones are long gone!

I also still pop in 1942 every now and then... the game is still going strong. What a classic!!

If you still play Battlefield 1942, I highly recommend you play Desert Combat mod.

So is it any good or what? I know it's a beta but still..

Believe it or not I never got into the BF games. Mainly due to the fact my comp has sucked *** for a while now.

I just read online that there will be guns to purchase online DAY ONE of the release of this game. I think this may prevent me from buying it, the start of microtransactions...

Well... The guns come with the Special Edition. They're only for sale for the regular edition. It's still BS, but understandable. It's better than making it so there's no way to get 'em if you didn't buy the special edition.

true- they aren't an essential part of the game but it's still disappointing.

However, this is one time I feel the special edition actually has some worth over the regular edition. now if only the regular was, say, 40 or 50 bucks and the special was 60 it'd be a different story.

enjoy- let us know how it compares to the real BFs (not 2142). 'Nam is still the best one IMO.

Now I can ask the question..

What's it like? :winkwink:

Well... It's heavily influenced by CoD4. Even the control scheme abandons the old BF console scheme (while I REALLY liked) and goes CoD4 on you. I had a good time. They need to work on explaining the objectives though. I constantly found myself in the maps trying to complete the objective but couldn't figure out where the bomb goes or what my objective even is. Obviously it's still in Beta so there's tons of fixes that need to be made. Looks like it'll be fun in the final product though. Any specific questions?

Is it anything like BF2, Vietnam, or 1942? I liked those better than BF2:MC.
