63% T.D.

37% Fireman Ed

I'm not a fireman ed fan BUT he's not just some drunk at the games. I don't know if he drunks or not but he doesn't act like an idiot drunk at the games.

and I guess a fan is a better face of the franchise than a mascot named TD since you rarely score any TDs:D

I am not bitter towards Fireman Ed, I just do not consider him a Mascot. Is he employed by the Jets? Do the Jets send him a pay check every 15 days? Is he on the field during games or perhaps visit local hospitals and assist within the community representing the Jets? I highly doubt it.

I attend every single Dolphin game and I am as loud as they come and cheer for the Fins at all cost. Therefore, the only difference between Fireman Ed and myself is pretty much... Nothing.

I believe at one time he was employed by the Jets, after he got big in the late 90s they then had him going around to different sections in the Stadium and he was also at every road game. He doesn't do that anymore but at one point he did.

I've been to every home game since 1990 and it used to annoy all the attention he got since I was at every game and he missed games from time to time yet claimed he went to every game BUT he did get the crowd going so obviously he does more than I or any other fan does so he deserved whetever attention he got.

Whgat does he do that he acts like a drunk?

Of course you are rebuilding, this is year 6 of the rebuilding project so we know you are always rebuilding. As far as the Jets contending, we should be a playoff contender and hopefully we need a win to make the playoffs in Week 17 b/c we have a gimme game in Week 17:D

"Typical Jets fan thinking"? Sort of like the SB predicitons for the dolphins after acquiring Ricky? The Saban is God posts? the Saban is building the next dynasty posts? The Cam Cameron is great posts? Yep, we are illogical but the Phin fans have not been in recent years:lol:

You are absolutely correct, that wasn't my point. He claimed I was being some sort of homer proclaiming the Jets a great franchise(which I did not) and said it was typical Jet fan thinking(which it is not). I was just proving a point. There are definitely fans like that on every board.

Oh I wasn't measuring the Dolphins success based solely on one team my percentage was taking into account the entire league since the dolphins/jets only make up 6.25% of the league and the rest of the league is also involved in games on Sunday. I was only pointing out that the jets are below .500 lifetime and only have 4 HOF players/coaches. Like I said in a previous post “No one ever accused a Jets fan of being a band Wagon Jumper!” hahahahhaha.

nyjunc logic = 2 titles greater then equal to 1 title therefore the Jets and Miami are equal. Tampa = 1 Title therefore Tampa is equal to Jets.

Equations: since we know 2 does not equal 1 from Mathematics (see grade 1 mathematics basics) and winning percentage of .580 - .444 = .136 and .444 - .392 (winning percentage of Tampa) = .052. .444 is closer to .392 also 4 is closer to 1 than 9 is closer to 4 (that would be Hall of fame players and coaches, Jets=4 Tampa=1 Miami=9). So in direct comparison it would seem a more realistic comparison would be Jets = Tampa

Conclusion: Based on the fundamentals of math the JETS SUCK!

Again, I juust wish people would read my posts rather than interpret what they think I am writing. I NEVER said the Jets were the equals of Miami all time./ I said we have been better the last 10 years or so, obviosuly Miami rates well ahead of us BUT the bottom line is you have 2 titles and we have 1 so as "great" as you think the dolphins have been and as bad as the Jets have been we are still close in the # that matters.

You cna say the Jets suck but what does the 1970s ro 80s have to do w/ today? In recent, more relevant history we have been better and going into '08 we LOOK better(though that can change) so if we suck you are only bashing your team since my team has been better.

You saying that the Jets have been better than the Dolphins recently is like saying "I'm the worlds tallest midget" or "The worlds smartest retard"

it doesnt mean anything...

I said it before and apparently I have to say it again... Jets fans (you in particular) get off on being slighlty better than a ****ty dolphins team instead of worrying about how your team could get better against the other 12 teams they play over the course of a season.

Thank you for again reaffirming that rooting for the jets is a sad, sad team to root for... not just in the last ten years but for the last 40 years

I don't know why I am even responding to you as you don't deserve a response but what the heck. You guys have been telling us for years how you are on the cusp of greatness whether it was w/ JJ, the early Wanny years, Saban, Cameron, Ricky Williams,... You have also been telling us how much the Jets suck yet we dominate you head to head and have been better than you consistently for a long time now. That's not something I like to tlak about except when dolphin fans on this board criticize the Jets, it's not like it's been difficult beating you guys lately.

What the hell does the May flower have to do with Modern day America? With out it there isn't one. Same can be said of any past. As far as the 2 verses 1 argument, Super bowls are hard to win, period. If a team has 5 they are legend and even one is hard to come by for some teams. I have tired of arguing semantics with a Jets fan on a Miami Dolphins Forum! Everyone is entitled to one A$$hole and an opinion! Mine is JETS = SUCK SUCK SUCK. Buffalo = suck suck suck suck worse and Tom efin’ Brady should suffer nine season ending injuries in a row. But I mean that with the best of intentions if you are reading this Tom, oh that’s right you are on the Patriots forum

Just like I told nyjunc a million times... typical jets fan garbage your spewing

It's pathetic that ALL your team/fans seem to care about is beating the dolphins twice a year (which is nothing special to accomplish) yet you don't seem to notice or care that your team is horrible against the rest of the league...

The dolphins could lose two games to the jets in one season and still make the playoffs and possibly win a superbowl (not saying it's GOING to happen, just saying it is possible) and your lousy team would be happy being one of the worst teams year in and year out just because have a good stretch against O-N-E team :sidelol:

unlike you, I don't go and troll on the Jets forums (do they even have enough fans that care to have a forum?!) and spew garbage that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Have fun rooting for a team that CONTINUES to go NOWHERE...

and try gameplanning against another team other than the fins... it might get you more than an average of 4 to 5 games won per season

True, but correct me if I'm wrong, but your team spent the playoffs watching from home just like ours. So "all those wins" you racked up during the regular season really made a big difference. :rolleyes2:

By the way, how does it feel being like the football version of the Cubs? You know when a team in your own town wins a championship while you wallow in mediocrity? And while it is true the Fins have been in a slump the last few years, thats all it is; a slump. We will pull out of it soon. The Jets have been a league doormat since the 60s, as your overall record will attest to. Every once in a while, you put together a decent season, and then BAM! Right back in the cellar.

Every good franchise goes through a down period...

the Jets however have been the Jets for 40+ years, a bad team that rarely makes the playoffs and wins a game

the Dolphins have had stretches of fantastic seasons and up until recently have been widely considered one of the most successful franchises in football

All that losing for the Jets over the years have made Jets fans bitter that they have to celebrate winning against one team twice... it makes sense to have such low expectations (beating the recent dolphins)

I personally voted for firewoman Ed... afterall he is the most important person associated for the Jets (he's practically the face of the franchise).

Jets = 23 losing seasons, 4 divisional titles, 1 SB apperance, 1 SB win

PHINS = only 9 losing seasons, 12 divisional titles, 5 SB apperances, 2 SB wins, 1 PERFECT SEASON

Now tell me which team is a freaking doormat? Oh, I forgot to mention, the Jets have been compiling this mediocre record since 1960. A full six seasons before the Phins even existed.

So even with a six year head start, the Jets merits still fall woefully behind the Phins.

Now lets consider Hall of Fame members:

Jets: 6 (three are there based off their performances for other teams... pathetic huh?) :sidelol:

Weeb Ewbank (coach, 1963-73)
Don Maynard (WR, 1960-72)
Joe Namath (QB, 1965-76)
John Riggins (RB, 1971-75)
Ronnie Lott (DB, 1993-94)
Art Monk (WR, 1994)

PHINS: 9

Paul Warfield 42, WR (1970-74), Elected 1983
Larry Csonka 39, RB (1968-74 & 1979), Elected 1987
Jim Langer 62, C (1970-79), Elected 1987
Bob Griese 12, QB (1968-80), Elected 1990
Larry Little 66, G (1969-80), Elected 1993
Don Shula, Head Coach (1970-95), Elected 1997

Nick Buonicoti 85, LB (1969-76), Elected 2001
Dan Marino 13, QB (1983-99), Elected 2005

If it wasn’t for that ridiculous guarantee, he'd have never made it. Aside from that Namath was what the rest of the Jets are: Mediocre.

Oops. I did mention it after all...

You keep trying to make your team look better acting like we celebrate beating you guys when we don't. YOU are the bitter one knowing as "great" as your franchise has been you only have 1 more Championship than the lowly Jets and the fact that we have totally dominated you the past decade and own the overall head to head series. That irritates you, just admit it.

Your last SB was 24 years ago and in Miami tradition you were humiliated in that game. At least we have made a Championship Game in the last 10 seasons.

and w/ all that you only have ONE more Championship than us and all 3 Championships btw the 2 teams happened 35-40 years ago.

Maybe we'll never see another Super Bowl but your track record isn't very good either. At least we have been close in the last decade. We have an AFC Title Game appearance, we came close to 2 more title games while you guys haven't been to a Title Game since 1992 and haven't been close to a Title Game since 1994.

As far as the Stadium goes let's look at this way. We sell out the meadowlands every week and we help you guys sell out your place when we play you. We don't need local TV stations to buy up tickets so they can air the games locally.

Well, with one day left, my guess is we have a decent shot at going all the way to the AFC finals in this tourney.

How do I figure?

Well, I went through all the tourney brackets and we have the second most votes all together than any other bracket (except for Baltimore vs. San Diego whom have about 15,000 votes, which is the most votes overall and both baltimore and San Diego are currently tied). We have around 13,000 votes, so our chances look good.

They would if anyone actually moved to/or even visited Jersey, but they dont. When your team blows you just have empty seats -- yes I can recall various Jests games where you had clusters of empty seats just like we do. Many of our 'would-be' empty seats just get taken by the various transplants living and/or vacationing in Miami when we suck and no one comes out.

It's like I said before... the Jets fan will contrive any twisted fact to try and prove that their franchise is better than ours on a thread about a mascot LOL... because in all seriousness that's the only way they can feel good about their team. You Jets fans make me laugh everyday when I come on this thread and you're just beating a dead horse. It would be different if you come on here and had intelligent things to add but what you've been saying on this thread equates to "I believe the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun revolves around it"

It's ok... keep coming with your "your tv station has to by tickets for the stadium" and "with-in the past blah blah blah the percentage of this over that combined with useless fact 1,2,3... " because it's always fun putting the Trolling jests fans in their place

Like DolfanDave said, that's never been a problem, I lived in south florida most my life and watched Fin games on the local stations. But it's nice to see you using misdirection to avoid admission that your fans can be equally as fair-weather as our fans when they're losing. But hey at least they paid for the tickets before deciding they weren't going to show up!

Maybe. obviously we haven't been great through most of our history but we have been consistently good for most of the past 10-11 years. Every team has fairweather fans, I have been to every Jet home game since 1990 and there weren't alot of people in the Stadium in lean years BUt the tickets were sold. That just shows how bad we were, people were willing to eat the money they spent so they didn't have to watch the Jets. You guys should know how that feels in recent years.

Financial support is more important than vocal support. You think if the place was full last december the Jets would all of a sudden have won 2-3 more games? or if you want to call 9 wins a good season, you've had 5.....but then we have a good season in 2005, so there goes your 'you guys haven't had one since the beginning of the decade' claim

Bottom line, the Jests have 1 more win since 2000 than the Dolphins have. Congrats on that.

BTW - that's all while comparing what is probably the WORST stretch in Phins history against probably the BEST run in Jests history.

Is that really funny considering we've had alot of good seasons this decade while you guys haven't had one since the beginning of the decade?

Really?

I roll in here to check the new mascot battle think this whole jets thing is done and your still here arguing away.

I mean, your mascot lost, Jets v Phins have been thoroughly debated and your still here?

Here let me sum everything up for you: Both teams have not been very good as of late. Historically the Phins are better. We have our own stadium; you guys are a bunch of renters. You seem to sell out more games.

That’s about it right? So can you give your closing arguments and then go the hell away? Maybe we can then unhijack this thread?

I mean there has to be a holiday or something where you troll a Pats forum or something. But then again, you probably don’t go to pats forums because their team is better than yours right now. You roll in here because we have been down recently because you feel like you have the upper hand then. That’s your whole argument right? "We beat the pants off you guys lately!"

Give it a rest.

as far as that last statement. I interact w/ Pat fans on various boards. I didn't choose to come here b/c the dolphins stunk and the Jets were good. If you notice my join date it was march 2004. true, true, true and speculation

I'll take Bill Parcells' history of turning struggling franchises around over the 1 year wonder you have running the show. You are also about to jettison the QB that led you to all the above for a complete question mark. NEITHER franchise is guaranteed any level of success of the next 5 years....but I honestly don't mind our chances.

You lost 2 key Dec games in '03 that cost you the playoffs then beta the 6 win Bills and jets to finish 10-6. Our '02 team that was 9-7(thanks to early injuries and a new defense) was MUCH better than your '03 team that was 10-6 or our '01 team that was 10-6. In '06 you were done by october, you went on a nice streak to end the season w/ zero pressure.

The problem is Parcells has turned around teams b/c he was COACHING them not b/c he was picking the players. Keep in mind his 2 Championship teams were built by George Young and he lost power in 1996 in NE then made his 3rd SB. He is an average at best GM so don't act like he is a sure thing. Our GM has been w/ this team since '97 and helped building multiple playoff teams and as a GM he has a playoff appearance under his belt. Parcells doesn't.

Your QBs are complete question marks as well, we are only a little better at QB b/c we have a proven QB but his best d ays are behind him. Our QB situations are somewhat similar.

We've been better the last decade so we did have a brighter future in the 90s. You are right I do not know for sure what will happen but we have nice pieces in place especially on D where we have 3 great building blocks in Revis, Rhodes and Harris. If(and this is a big IF) Clemens can be a competent QB then we have our QB of the future and everything looks great, if not it could set us back but you guys are in a similar situation at QB. Anything can happen but looking at the rosters we appear to have the betetr team short term and w/ Parcells running your drafts and FA we know he's an average GM at best so future wise I like our chances.

IMO the Jets are one of the league's all-time worst franchises. Since they joined the NFL their won loss record is .433. More often than not if the Jets play a game they lose. The lose more consistently than the Lions or the Bengals even. The only teams that have been around since the merger and have worse records are the Saints and Falcons. They have the one SB championship in 1968 and they have never even been back to the show. Even prior to 1966 I don't think they have a single league championship. They haven't even had many great players. I can only think of three HOFs in their entire history (Ewbanks, Maynard and Namath). They may have had some other players who played their before or after they were in HOF form (Lott comes to mind), but no other HOFs who played their in their prime. I know that all teams have up and down periods but overall the NYJ have been one of the worst in the league.

Actually in a ranked list of the NFL's most popular teams by fan voting Miami came in 14th with the Jets at 17. But thats not a legendary list, its just bu popularity.

The list ranked.. in order...Cowboys, Colts, steelers, Packers, Bears, Patriots, Giants, Eagles, 49ers, Chargers, Raiders, Redskins, Browns, Dolphins, Panthers, Broncos, Jets, Bengals, Vikings Seahawks, Saints, Bucs, Rams, Cheifs, Lions, Titans, Ravens, Falcons, Cardinals, Bills, Texans, Jags; In that order

I'm surprised we were that close. The great 70s teams all have nationwide fan bases- Oak, Pitt, Dal and Miami. They won over fans across the Country w/ great teams in the 70s and those fans passed it down to their kids.

I don't act like the Dolphins are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Others might but I don't. I'm not an idiot, I realize the Jets have owned the Dolphins the last 10 years. Numbers don't lie.

But when you defend every single thing negative towards the Jets, that's when I come in. You've owned Miami for 10+ years but is that something to be proud of? I mean just look at all the mumbo jumbo you've spouted off about Miami's last few playoff runs (and how short they've been).

How is that? Who said that? Cause I don't agree with it. We may be middle of the pack or maybe.. 'upper middle class.' But i'd never say we're one of the greatest franchises in football. We have some great credentials as a franchise, we've had a high win % throughout our existence, not sure if its still the best in football but maybe it is, two titles, but played in 5 title games. The infamous perfect season. Arguably the greatest passer ever, and several of the leagues most legendary players. So yeah, while we lack the championships that other great franchises have we got a lot to be proud of. The Jets aren't in our circle (all-time) even if we are just a 2nd tier great franchise, no matter how much you want them to be. They are trash.

We are trash in recent history, and your right you've kicked our lowly ***** for the most part. Congrats. I don't see anybody challenging your Jests ownage of the Dolphins this last decade, but you keep bringing it up. I wonder why that is?

You're still here, so i'd love to know what you think you're arguing about. Are you arguing that the Jets are almost as good as a franchise as the Dolphins? Well, in superbowl titles yes, you are almost as good. Win %? you're a long ways behind us. Superbowl appearences? You're way behind us. Hall of Famers? You're way behind us.

If you're arguing that the Jets have owned the Dolphins this last decade well. I don't see anyone challenging you in that regard.

You keep trying to act like our past don't matter. But maybe you wouldn't have that attitude if the Jests history wasn't so gloomy.

We actually have 2 Stadiums, we sell out the Stadium we share w/ the Giants and we take over your Stadium whenever we play yuo guys down there:wink:

Just verify for me the two stadiums you are bring up are called "Giants Stadium" and "Dolphins Stadium".

Again, get your own field and then come talk to me.

Well considering I'm not a Jets fan, the sun shines much brighter on my dog's ***

I couldn't fathom being a Jets fan and actually trying to cheer for such a lame team.

How do you have hope? ... considering you've never seen your team succeed for more than one or two years at a time? :sidelol:

What hope have you had exactly? At least in the last decade we've been to a Championship Game and been close to 2 others, you guys haven't even been close to the playoffs since '02.

Again it's like kicking the kid with down syndrome's *** everyday after recess

Alot of posters on here do act like the Dolphins are an elite franchise so sorry if I confuse you w/ some of them.

I don't crow about bheating the dolphins, this is in response to dolphin fans trying to talk trash to me.

I defend my team, what's wrong w/ that? I am gettiong attacked from every angle here and I defend my team while speaking the truth. I don't write anything crazy, I never said we were going 12-4 this year, I never said we'd win the div, I never said we were going to the SB. I never even guaranteed we'd finish ahead of you so where are these crazy homer statements?

Why are we still arguing with a Jets fan? We beat them in the last round and this is getting old. Where are the silly Brown fans now...

:lol::lol:

First off, good post overall. I keep brining it up b/c you guys(not you specifically but the dolphin fans here) keep bringing up the 70s as if that has some relevance to today. They act like the dolphins are the Yankees of football and act like the dolphins have been better than the Jets in recent times.

I don't care about Hall of Famers, I care about Championships and hopefully getting to see one someday. If you bothered to read my posts you'd know I NEVER said we were as good of a franchise all time as the dolphins. My point all along has been as "great" as you guys have been you only have 1 more Championship than us. That's it, nothing more really needs to be said but you guys keep attakcing so I have to reinforce points from time to time so it can get a little repetitive.

You keep trying to act like our past don't matter. But maybe you wouldn't have that attitude if the Jests history wasn't so gloomy.

I do not act like that all, you should be proud of your past BUT many act like the present doesn't mean anything and just talk about the past. It's great to have good history but when you haven't won a SB in 35 years...

Fireman ed doesnt even go to the games anymore

I am not a big Firmen Ed guy BUT he has been at just about every game as long as I have been going(since 1990). he wasn't at games last yera b/c he supposedly had an injury that kept himf rom work and from going to the games. That's how bad it was last year, even fans were out for the year:D:boohoo:

Just verify for me the two stadiums you are bring up are called "Giants Stadium" and "Dolphins Stadium".

Don't allow your homefield to be taken over every week by opposing fans then come talk to me. In 2 years we'll have a brand new Stadium, we won't be playing in Giants Stadium anymore but you'll still see your Stadium taken over by opposing fans on a weekly basis.

This really has little to do with football but...
You act as though this is some kind of testament to the jests greatness when actually it is a testament to our geographical superiority. Florida is national melting pot (not so much international, like New York). What it boils down to is that your state is so ****ty that it has sparked a mass exodus. People from all over the country(especially New York) move here, because of the warm weather and good people. In fact, I know very few people who are native floridians here. Yet, somehow, we consistently manage to fill seats with dolphins fans. There may be a lot of jests fans at the games, but if I moved to another state where I wouldn't have the opportunity to see my team play but only once a year, I'd put a lot of effort to making it to that game. Frankly, with as many New Yorkers that we have living here, the jest should be concerned that thet they don't outnumber the dolphins fans.

I would have to agree with you on this statement. I'm a canadian fan who has travelled to Miami the last 5 out of 7 years to watch games. I've stopped wasting money travelling down there the last 2 years, due to the fact that there is no support for our team. In a total of 9 games attended, I would have to say that I was embarassed not only by the lack of fans at the game, but also the lack of tenacity as well.

At a monday night game against the eagles about 5 years ago, I bet the crowd was at least 50-50, maybe even 60-40 for eagles fans.
My wife and I had front row seats on the 20 yard line, and every time I stood up to scream and shout on third downs, people were screaming at me to sit down and be quiet. This is the NFL, not the opera. I live in southern ontario, where I can drive to a Jills game in 45 minutes. I would have to say that the Bills fan support totally kills the support there actually is in Miami, most stadiums have a "home field advantage" because of rowdy crowds. This is not the case from the games I have been at in Miami.

If it makes you feel better that during your "great" stretch you had 1 more SB than the lowly Jets then so be it. It's just comical how dolphin fans act like they are the Yankees of football.

IMO the Dolphins are among the elite franchises. Though they've degraded that position over the last six years. That happens periodically to all elite franchises. GB was the best of the best for years and then was a joke for years. Dallas, Pitt, SF, etc. all went through the same thing. And I don't base being elite just on SB wins. Conference championships, Division Championships, HOF players, etc. Basically, you have to be in the conversation for being among the best for some time and you have to actually win some of those times. How long and how much is the subjective part. But no matter how you slice it the Dolphins have won a lot. Below are some stats cut and pasted from the Dolphin's site that illustrate that point.

What you notice from all of those win categories is that certain names are consistently among the best. Those are San Francisco, Dallas, Pittsburg, Miami, Oakland and Green Bay. New England has been elite since 1997. On the next tier you can include Minnesota, Washington and Denver. I'm sure you can make an argument for a few others, but one team you can't make an argument for is the Jets. They've simply never won enough. If you were to make a similar compilation for losses the Jets would be consistently there. The franchises simply don't compare. The Dolphins are arguably among the elite NFL franchises. The Jets are not.

I'm sure there will be further drivel from the Jets fans. There always is. I tried using facts before, and they would just ignore them and continue to use "But we beat you recently!" and "You were 1-15 last year!" as if no one knew that yet.

Jets fans seem to think that a bit of recent fortune against us and some bad luck on our part makes up for their half century of being pathetic.

Ditto. Growing up in the Buffalo area, I got to see first hand how a real fanbase supports their team. I can't say how they are nowadays, but when they were making the playoff appearances back in the 90's, that was all you heard about. Kelly this, and Thurman that. I grew to really respect the team due to that, and truthfully, I don't hate them like I do the Jets and Pats. I can't really lay too much blame for the lack of support down in Miami, since I live in SC, but I support the team in every way, no matter who the QB, RB or DE is. I purchase the Sunday Ticket every year because I can't stand to miss a game. And I get that there is a heck of alot to do in Miami - but the truth is - if given a choice of going to the beach on Sunday, or going to the game...I think you all know what my choice would be. I'd be the first one in the lot, with the grill fired up, tippin' back the Landshark lagers with the rest of the diehards.

Love the Fins!
