I don't see any other mention of it, so it might just be me, but I really don't need to see an ad for a flat screen TV after every thread starter's post. It could be me, but spybot and adaware didn't seem to find anything on my computer and I don't have any problem on any other sites, so I'm wondering if it's just something within Finheaven?

Anyway, here's an example of what I'm getting.....

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

If it's just me, how do I lose this thing?

not just you, I'm wondering the same thing. I'm thinking the way you get rid of it is give finheaven money so they don't have to post ads.

Me too. I don't think we should be seeing it. I will look into it.

Could this be why I am not able to do a "Post Quick Reply"?

Just started same time this add showed up.

Coincidence?

All:

Unfortunatley the ads are neccassary. To run the servers and bandwidth we are now running, the site has enormous overhead. This has to be offset by revenue from somewhere. I wish I could tell you that of the 15000 plus hits we get a day that even 1% of those people contribute...but they don't.

The good news is that they are going away for paid members and will only be visible to lurkers.

Hey, even the "best" sites like ESPN, SI, and NFL network have ads. Its part of being successful which is you have expenses.

i get this error:

The following errors occurred with your submission

Okay

???

what is that about?
i have to click the "reply" button and wait for a new page to load with reply box in order to post. the "quick reply" is completely out of commission for me. anyone else having this issue?

Yes, there is a technical problem right now with the quick reply button. We are working towards correcting the problem.

well, those sites are private enterprises which are "for profit", so they'd have ads regardless.... this site should not be "for profit", but i don't expect you to pay out of pocket.

i was hoping that all the premium & VIP members' contributions would pay the operating expenses, but if they don't that's a shame. I look forward to when us paying members don't have to look at the ads. Please let us know when this happens.

PS: I don't want to buy a Sony Bravia! :)

PS: I don't want to buy a Sony Bravia! :)This site is not about profit, it is about creating a great place where Dolphin fans come to talk.

The thing is, when you are the biggest and best Dolphins fan community and one of the biggest NFL fan sites, the cost to maintain the site goes up. So, there are some sacrifices(like Sponsor Ads) that need to be added to keep things running smoothly.

Isn't there a way to put the adds somewhere else? It looks really bad where they are placed now.

Sorry, not sure where this goes as I only post here. For some reason, I can't respond to posts. When I submit, it says "the following errors occured with your submission". It doesn't say what errors. It has a little okay link, but it just takes you back to the post screen. Any body else experiencing this? I have no warnings or blocks against me, and it says I can do everything.

i have as well and mostly with the quick reply function. a few others have made comments on it and i'm sure the site guys are aware of it by now and trying to find the problem/solution. other issues have been the annoying pop-ups. no site rep has answering anything about it but as i stated im sure they are aware and will say something when they have a better understanding of the problems. so just hang in ther for now and use the quote instead of quick reply for now. it's only aggrevating because i keep forgetting and typing lenghtly post only for it to not go through and can't remember half of what i was saying to begin with.

For those who haven't figured it out yet (took me 3 days!) use the quote function.

Guys it is about covering cost. The sad news is that less than 1% of the people who come here contribute anything. They all want someone else to pay. That makes the ads necessary. Until that changes than we are where we are.

Hi,
I can see all the forums, but if i click on a thread, all i get is a blank white page. the bottom of my IE window says "Done" and the page is blank. nothing on it at all. I get this for ANY thread in ANY forum on this site. But i can see the forum home screen just fine. This also means i won't be able to view THIS thread after i post it. :(

*i am on other forums and other websites and everything else works ok.

Issue with ad pages? When registered, users do not see ads, this an issue with plugin to serve ad-free pages?

Interesting - can reply to your posts when logged out - have to be logged out, hit reply, then login at the fields on the page, not in the upper right corner.

Note - after hitting reply, the page will then go blank. Your reply will have been posted and will be visible to other logged out users. This, of course, will only be seen by the users who logged out like I suggested in my other thread title ;)

I'm using Firefox now. It works fine when you're logged out. This is an issue with the site not Firefox.

problem occurs in either browser when youre logged in. After you reply, the page goes white. Forums are visible but threads, when clicked on, are not, they too go into the white abyss. Mods, please help!

glad that things are fixed... but don't know why you merged all the threads... there is 3 different specific problems i have read about in this thread, and i know i had started two different unique threads....First off, it wasn't me personally who merged all the threads together. Secondly, it was likely merged so everyone had ONE thread to discuss the issues they are having. I changed the thread title so it works better with the content of the thread.

Though as it been pointed out already, FinHeaven is going through a series of updates and from time to time, we will experience some bumps. Obviously the Quick Reply button is down, but it will eventually be back. Yesterday we had some problems viewing threads, but that has already been resolved. Hang tight, once the updates are complete, FinHeaven will be running better then ever.

All:

Thank yo for your patience. We had to "tinker" with the database to fix some problems and issues. Sorry for the problem. We did not anticipate it would impact the operation or we would have given advance notice.

Is anyone having problems posting with Firefox the last couple of weeks (since the last major fix)?
Tried at home and at work, no luck. I keep getting a message that my post is too short no matter how much I type. Tried IE and Opera, no problems.

Thanks, I'll tinker and see if I can get it working. Ah! Something to do with "Noscript" extension. Disabled it and now can post.
