I hope they sign him.. that should mean a few INT stats for our DBs who are in much need of a confidence boost! LMAO

Nice. Favre plays a year, MAYBE two for the Jets and they likely have to give up their 1st round pick in 2009. Hope it happens.

I dare New York to trade for him. Besides, if Favre is on the Jets on Opening Day, at least I know for sure I'll be getting that game.

But if this was the Phins trading for him, it would be the best thing since sliced bread.:rolleyes2:

What we have on the roster sucks, this would be a huge improvement for us.

How could they possibly have any money left after that spending spree they went on. I hope they sign him too. Then when they suck this year he will retire again next and the jets will be out a bunch of money and picks.

Favre will not be as effective in a brand new system, new coach, etc.

Forget Favre. Whatever team he lands on WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (if he starts 80% of the games).

There is no miracle player.

IMO it would def. improve them...although it might be wiser to let Clemmons take the reigns..

He's on the cover of Madden. Joey Porter will Theisman him in game 1.

Unless he renegotiates the Jets guys are cutting somebody. He comes with a $12 mill salary I believe, and they've got around $8.5 left- http://nyjetscap.com/salary.html

What we have on the roster sucks, this would be a huge improvement for us.There are a lot of Dolphins fans, including myself, who have said numerous times that trading for Favre would be a huge mistake. He is a nice player, and would improve the QB position for THIS YEAR, but I don't want anything to do with him.

First off, to get him you would have to TRADE for him, and after Miami ripped off the Redskins for 34 year old Jason Taylor, you know the Packers will want similar if not more in the way of compensation.

Secondly, Favre would play one, two years top, is he really worth a 2nd or 1st round pick? NO.

As in Miami's case, another reason is that it would hurt the development of the young guys like Beck and Henne. They are the future, and adding Favre would set them back.

The Jets though don't really have a QB for the long-term. So, adding another stop gap QB wouldn't hurt the young players development. I am rooting for the Jets getting him because they will likely have to pay a steep price to get him.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid was hired as an assistant coach by the Green Bay Packers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers) in 1992, the same year quarterback (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback) Brett Favre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Favre) became a member of that team. Reid developped great CHEMISTRY with Favre when he was named the Packers' quarterbacks coach in 1997.

Sirius radio just had a guy on (Dan Leberfeld) who covers the Jets, he was making the case that the Jets were just doing their due diligence on Favre. He also felt this may be a motivational ploy aimed at the Jets current QB's. He didn't seem to feel that Favre is a good fit in NY.

That would be great if it were 1993 or 1998. It is 2008.

Not necessarily my friend, not everyone here shares the same opinion.

I'd love to have Farve a fin.

I read this morning that Favre hardly ever even follows the playbook and that the TD he threw to Rison in the Super Bowl wasn't even the called play.

Yet another reason he can go somewhere else.

From the Packers point of view, trading Favre to the Jets makes sense. It gets him out of the NFC and they don't play each other. Favre may even decide to retire and not come back, which they would be happy to see too.

Green Bay doesn't want to trade him to Tampa Bay, which I keep hearing, for the same reason they don't want to trade him to Minnesota. They don't want to send him to a team that could turn around and beat them this year, they don't want to send him to a team that could keep them out of the playoffs, and they don't want to send him to a team that they could meet (and lose to) in the playoffs.

The Jets front office could be facing a win now outlook or be out of a job next year after all the money spent on free agents this past off season. Spending all that mony on linemen doesn't do any good if there's not a decent QB behind them. Tannenbaum and Mangini aren't going to be worried about lost draft picks and the salary cap if they don't have a job next year. Plus, Favre would be good PR, grabbing attention away from the Giants and would help sell PSL's for the new stadium.

The New York Jets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyj) have received permission to talk to retired Green Bay Packers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=gnb) quarterback Brett Favre (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=1025), a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Friday.

Brett Favre is a future Hall of Famer, who even last season showed he still has alot to offer. The Jets have a good group there as it is, but face uncertainty at the QB position. If they were to acquire Favre he would elevate them into a playoff team IMO. There O-line is very solid, have good recievers and new TE's in Keller and Franks. Favre also would only be around two seasons tops, so Clemens could learn from him and stay be back up for those few seasons and then take the reigns when Favre retires.
