View Full Version : Our 2nd Round (Washington's) Pick Watch Thread

Having a first day pick from another team during the season is always fun. In addition to following the Dolphins and our opponents, it gives us one more team to have rooting interest against.

Last night's loss by Washington is a nice start. Hopefully, how horrible they looked is a sign of things to come.

If the season ended today:), that pick would be the first in the second round, 33rd overall.

There's no chance in hell the Redskins finish the season in last place. I would say the Skins are at worst a 6 to 7 win team, at best a 10 win team. Miami is looking at mabye the 43rd to 53rd best player in the nation next year from the JT trade. IMO, not bad when you consider what we gave up to get him, what he produced while he was a Dolphin and what we got for him in trade after 10 years of service. Even if JT has a probowl season Miami still did very, very well all things considered.

It is nice that for the third straight draft, we will have two 2nd rounds. Having six second round picks in three years will go along way to restoring this franchise.

The best thing about this upcoming extra 2nd round pick is that Washington is not near as good as the 2006 Patriots or the 2007 Chargers. Sure we were able to land a very good center with the Pats pick(Satele) and likely the QB of the future with the Chargers pick(Henne), but with the Redskins pick it increases our odds the higher it is.

We had #60 from the Pats, and #57 from the Chargers. With the Redskins we could possibly see a jump of 10-15 spots putting us around #40-45.

With Jason Taylors age, and the fact that he hasn't looked like his dominate 2006 self lately(2007 season and last night) I think we made out like bandits. Plus, next season we can still root against the Redskins so it increases our value of that extra 6th round pick we got in the Taylor trade.

The Redskins look so pathetic last night we might be drafting in the top 5 or 6 in the second round! I hope they continue to choke it up all year so that the pick we got from them for Jason Taylor is in the top 5.

I did see potential in them. Don't get me wrong I do hope they suck it up this year.

But I think the coaching was pretty bad. There comes a time when the offense has to start to abandon the run. I could clearly see they were scared to throw the ball on offense.

If they continue that trend we will most definatly be drafting early in the 2nd round.

I had a good laugh at JTs expense during the Giants game. He made a stink and went to a potentially worse team than he was on. That's what you get when you act like a douche.

He got absolutely dominated in the run game, got tossed around like a ragdoll. Teams are going to run at him alot more after tape of last night.

So what else is new? lol

He's pathetic against the run.....weak as water....

BTW....did you see Laron Landry get runover by Jacobs? He looked like he got knocked unconcious for a second....LMAO!!

As for the pick? Way too early to tell....but maybe a cornerback like UCF's Joe Burnette....I like him....

hey come on now. JS says JT plays the run fine. who am I to argue? lol. JT looked even smaller than usual to me, and its clear he has no interest in playing the run. ya, that was a crazy hit Landry took. is it USC/Ohio ST next week? man, Joe McKnight is Reggie Bush the 2nd. its crazy how similar they run. what do you think of Patrick Turner as a later round guy? I dont think hes even starting this year, but he moves well for 6'5 225.

Maybe as a late round pick....only because he's big....but that's it.

He doesn't impress me at all....slow...no suddeness....he'll get eat up in the pro's just like Mike Williams IMO.

I actually like Vidal Hazelton much better as far as pro potential...although he's an underclassman.

also, laron landry was obliterated on that one hit by jacobs but in fairness to landry just about any safety in the league is gonna get run over if jacobs shoulders are square and he's low on impact. that man is a beast.

i give props to landry for getting back in the game so soon. in slow mo that looked like he had his spine ripped out with the way he looked after he hit the ground.

plus, i feel bad for landry when he has to cover all that field playing with that scrub reid doughty (sp???) at the other safety.

they're asking landry to be superman with all the field he has to cover and how much he has to come up and stop the run after teams run completely over jt at will.

I agree...I like Britt's pro potential...

I also like another Kenny...

.....Kenny McKinley for South Carolina.....on the verge of breaking all Sterling Sharpe's records at USC....

Man this guy knows how to run some routes....hands are fantabulous....

Britt-le? lol

Nah....I think McKinley could have a bright NFL future and we need all the help we can get....but McKinley isn't my favorite...

The QB I like is Tom Brandstater from Fresno St.....I think he could top the QB list come draft time.....right up there with Stafford....maybe better....

the impressive guy to me on fresno state is that running back. he's a pro down the line. showed me a nice burst i didn't think he'd have in the rutgers game when he got in the 2nd level. excellent balance also and vision. i believe he's a sophomore this year. for some reason i'm thinking his name is ryan matthews but that doesn't seem right.

as far as qbs i'll roll with you on them cause you hit the 2 best in this class in ryan and henne.

I still like Mike Teel as one of my top senior QB prospects...but I think Brandstater is going to be better.....be able to sort this all out as the season progresses though...

Personally, the top senior WR prospects I like are Demetrius Byrd/LSU, Michael Jones/Arizona St., and Derrick Williams/Penn St.

Derrick Williams is my favorite senior WR prospect...reminds me of O.J. McDuffie with his stocky build and incredible hands....but with speed to burn DB's....

i have to disagree here

we need to bring in all the pieces to the puzzles on offence soonner than the defence, they need to play a lot of games together in order to gel and devellop a good chemistry.

i don't care who, but we've got to bring in a good WR this next draft

In your dreams to picking Rey Rey at worst he won't make it past the 7th pick in the 1st round. I hate to say this being a Michigan fan but Laurinitas, and Freeman will be available around the time we pick. Crabtree won't be available to us neither so forget it too. Sorry if I'm playing the devils advocate here and pissin on folks parades. However, there is a silver lining as far as WR's available to us go. Derrius Heyward-Bey yeah he's with MD and they look putrid (being nice) right now but he'll be there. I see us picking between 11-15 in next year's draft. Michael Jones from ASU just screams Derek Hagan part deux to me since of course Hagan went to ASU and looked like friggin all-world there:foundout:. I remember being ecstatic that we picked him in 2006, and being that this is year 3 and him playing one of the most difficult positions in the NFL. THIS YEAR IS MAKE OR BREAK FOR HIM.:foundout:

They have the Redskins ranked #26. Meaningless, I know, but hopefully that is close to their end of the season ranking.

Remember this name Corey Surrency 6'5" WR from FSU.
Hes a Juco transfer who played one year as a semi-pro(NCAA ruling). The FSU are extremely comfortable in comparing Corey Surrency (as a D1A rookie) to Randy Moss.

IMO: What little I've seen hes incredibly raw but the natural ability just oozes.

For one they are in arguably the toughest divison in football with the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles all legitimate playoff teams if not possible SuperBowl contenders. There is 6 losses right there. Secondly they are installing a west coast offense that usuaully takes a full year before a team figures out how to play in it. We may have gotten very lucky with this pick. Dont be surprised if they finish with 5 or 4 wins

They OWNED the saints too. If the skins could learn how to get it in the red zone instead of FG attempts... it could be a late 2nd rounder.

forget about it, the redskins are clearly the baddest team in the nfc east... which doesn't mean they are bad, but they should go 1-5 or 2-4 at most against their division opponents... 8-8 at most for redskins is my take

forget about it huh? i can now see they are 'the baddest team in the nfc east" youre right. lets just take a look at WHO they have beaten compared to the other two teams that most of the 'experts' put ahead of them.

look at the combined records of each team's opponents:
Redskins' opponents: 15-8
Dallas's opponents: 9-15
Giants' opponents: 5-13
Giants beat the Skins plus two winless teams (Rams, Bengals) and the Seahawks who have won only one game.
The Cowboys haven't beaten a team with a winning record. and the skins got them both. point is itll bea late 2nd...unfortunately.
