She charged the state of Alaska a per diem for 312 days that she spent in her own home, in her own bed, eating at her own house.

Just as she was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it - and has yet to refund the money to Washington (and thus to us, the taxpayers) - she has shown her skill at being all of the same of everything wrong in DC, just a fresh pork lover.

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Sarah+Palin?tid=informline) has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.

I was going to post the thing about the per diem, but the truth is every governor does it, and I am sure Senators have their own system. It is bad, but they all do it.

I knew what was up with it from the begining, I just love all this false info out there, and the perpetuity(sp?) of it all. I do not think they realize how much damage they are doing, not to Palin, her numbers continue to rise, to Obama, and the Democratic party.

Many articles out there on this very subject, Willy Brown wrote a great one, just keep digging, and keep posting, it is working great!!

You should see the most recent one where Palin is a Muslim and wants to burn books.

How is it bad?

It is beyond me how anyone can go after her for this, or even call it bad when she sold the states luxury jet and fired the personal cook.

You do realize the major use of the "luxury plane" was prisoner transport?

And that now Alaska has to contract for that?

You do realize twisted truth when she said she sold it on ebay? She had it listed on ebay but it failed to sell.

When someone enters the national scene lying - but you'd excuse her, right? Because... why?

"She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere."
--"Original Mavericks" Ad, September 7, 2008. The McCain-Palin campaign seems to think that a statement becomes true simply by dint of repetition. A TV advertisement repeats the dubious claim that vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin "stopped" the nation's most infamous symbol of pork-barrel spending. It's been pretty clearly established by now that the "bridge to nowhere" was going nowhere at all before the Alaska governor formally signed the death warrant in September 2007.

The Facts

When Sarah Palin announced the abandonment of the "bridge to nowhere" on September 21, 2007, she issued a statement (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20908207/) acknowledging the obvious: Congress was no longer prepared to foot the bill. "Much of the public's attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here," she told Alaskans. "But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened."
It was a plea for realism. Pork-barrel spending had become a red-button political issue, and Alaska was routinely cited by watchdog groups as the biggest recipient of Congressional largesse, thanks to the efforts of its long-time Republican senator Ted Stevens and Congressman Don Young. Alaska has consistently topped the pork per capita ratings drawn up by Citizens Against Government Waste since 2000. According to the latest 2008 ranking (http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2008porkpercap), every Alaskan received $555 in pork over the last year, compared to $25 for every inhabitant of Illinois and $15 for every Arizonan.
Palin had a different view of the bridge project linking the town of Ketchikan (population 7,500) with an airport on sparsely populated Gravina island when she was running for governor of Alaska in 2006. In answers to a written questionnaire (http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/510378.html) from the Anchorage Daily News, she said that the time to build the bridge was "now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist."
As governor, Palin opted to use the $200 million that Congress had originally set aside for the bridge for other transportation projects. It is therefore inaccurate for her to claim, as she did at the Republican Convention earlier this month and repeatedly since, including on the campaign trail today, that she said "thanks, but no thanks," to Congress on the "bridge to nowhere" project.
During her State of the State address (http://www.gov.alaska.gov/archive-50605.html) in January, Palin told Alaskans that "we cannot and must not rely so heavily on federal government earmarks." While she has cut back on earmark requests, records cited by the Associated Press (http://news.yahoo.com/story/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_fact_check/print) show that she has requested $750 million in federal subsidies during her two years as governor, the largest per-capita request in the nation.

Sounds like poetic license.

She did in fact sign the death warrant for the bridge, although she didn't form a grassroots campaign to stop it.

She also wasn't a big proponent for it either. It was her predecessors.

NBC did a spot on that tonight, I saw the jet, you guys honestly are all the same, you are saying SHE LIED? Did you leave something out????? Maybe that instead of costing over 1600.00 now per prisoner per flight, it now costs about 875.00????? Must have just forgot that part huh??

I also believe her words were I "put" it on E bay.

One other way I believe many of you are out of touch is the things you think people care about. You actually think the Trooper Gate will make people dislike her, it made me like her more. This jet thing, she saw as frivolous, I agree, she sold it, you think it matters where.

Don't let me stop you though, your doing a REAL good job, you can tell by the polls.

I don't care what the Jet was used for. The fact is she saw pork fat and got rid of it. We need more politicians like that.

Don't lecture me about politicians that lie. You are supporting one of the biggest liars that has ever tried to run for President in Obama. This guy is nothing but an empty suit. Yet some how he thinks he can pad his political record and win the election for the biggest job in the world.

No, I honestly do not think many on the left can even gauge what most people would get worked up over. She has issues that I do not like, but instead of harping on those you, or they seem to want to make things up (just look at the threads from today), talk about the plane (which is a strong suit as far as I'm concerned), Trooper Gate (not ENOUGH HAPPENED TO THAT *******), Dig up stuff on her kids(makes me want to contribute to McCain/Palin which I did for the first time).

I don't know, sounds to me like whoever is attacking may be out of touch, but again, don't let me stop you, it really will work.
