Another bits the dust. I thought he would never get fired. Lots of good candidates out there.

I feel like he will go to the Jets

Bad move

Shanny was getting great production from the offense. It was the D that destroyed their season. Was Shanny in charge of what players were drafted and signed. If not it was a very bad decision.

Yes, Shanahan had complete control, including personnel decisions.

He had to go. The game has clearly passed him by. That is why he blew a third rounder on Maurice Clarett, and that is why his team has continued to underperform.

He's been there forever. I guess they want to go a different direction. That collapse they had at the end of the year was terrible.

One of the best head coaches currently in the NFL. Unfortunately it's all about "what have you done lately". And since Elway he has yet to win a Ring. He'll find a head coaching job sooner rather then later.

wow. Interesting. If there ever was an off season to be looking for a Head Coach this one might be it lol. Cowher, Shanahan, Holmgren ( I know he said he is taking the year off but you never know), Billick, etc. Some pretty big name coaches available.

Most of the newspapars here in Colorado were speculating that he might be gone, but he has always been tight with Pat Bowlen the owner. They never won anything after Elway retired and when you lose a 3 game lead with 3 to go, well it is time for a change.

Personally, i never liked Shanahan......he was an asshat, his teams played dirty, and you just cant trust a man lacking an upper lip

I would not be shocked if Mike Shanahan was the Dallas Cowboy's coach next year....watch Jery Jones scoop him up.....no way Wade Phillips stays on the job with Shanahan looking for work.

Maybe you should check around. Schefter reported not a chance in hell Cowher coaches in 09. Book it.

I dont think he would go to Dallas. All because of Jones and at Denver Shanahan had GM and HC control. At Dallas he would be just a coach. Also Garrett is highly taught of in Dallas and I would say if Phillips goes he's the man who gets the HC job.

Shocked, but Shanny's big downfall was his inability to get defensive talent to Denver. After trading so many picks for Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, and Marcus Thomas, only Thomas saw consistent PT the past 2 seasons. They have had by far the worst starting LBs since Al Wilson had to retire, no pass rush, and no secondary outside of Champ (whose now getting hurt a lot). All of this is under Shanny's GM work.

He didn't do a bad job in 05 when he got all of the Cleveland D-Line to go to Denver.

Then it just all fell off. The injuries this year didn't help much either.

your right that Warren,Meyers, Ekuban, and Brown had good years for them. But Brown got hurt and cut, Meyers left via FA, and when Shanny hired Jim Bates, Bates didn't want Warren so they traded him. They also had Ian Gold and Al Wilson healthy so DJ Williams wasn't focused on, they had Derrant Williams (RIP), and Dominique Foxworth helping Champ, and John Lynch was still pretty good. They had a good defense that year.

Since he tried using Sam Adams (who proved to be washed up while in Cincy) Dwayne Robertson, and Dre Bly (who has been horrible for them). He thought he could use Nate Webster, Boss Bailey, and Jaime Winborn to help take pressure of DJ (all 3 of those have been off and on starters their entire careers), they have no safeties, and they have no pass rush.
