View Full Version : My Mock (Updated)

This will be my last mock till the combine.

1. Brian Cushing, LB, USC - A hard nosed player that is versatile. Would like to see him play inside here. He's had some injuries in the past, but seemed to be relatively healthy this year. He's good at a multiple of things and has that aggressive instinct that you love to see. Follows through with his plays and works hard.

2a. Macho Harris, CB, Virginia Tech - Macho has been working hard at improving his man to man coverage. He has the skill and work ethic to continue to improve within a short period of time. He's physical, jamming his man at the line very well. Ballhawk type as well.

2b. Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan - Delmas is a great character with the skills to match. He's another aggressive player and does well in coverage. Closes the cushion well. Also can help against the run. Leader type safety with great instincts.

3. Kraig Urbik, OL, Wisconsin - Big body that is versatile on the line. Primarily playing guard, but started an entire season at right tackle early in his career. Would add much needed depth along the line and is very good at resetting his stance against defensive moves.

4. Will Davis, DE/OLB, Illinois - Athletic hybrid with good size. Around 265 lbs. and uses his speed well. Arrived at Illinois as a wide receiver prospect and was moved to defensive end. Had a good junior year with 12.5 sacks with a slight fall off at 7 sacks his senior year. Has the athleticism to convert and stand up at the next level, and has time to learn.

5. Myron Pryor, NT, Kentucky - Another big bodied player that would provide depth and could develop quite nicely. He shined at the Shrine Game with great skills. Time behind a nose tackle like Jason Ferguson could do wonders for Pryor.

7a. Patrick Turner, WR, USC - Red zone target that can go up and get the ball. Played in a pro style offense and came away with 10 TD's his senior year. He's got the size and athleticism, but never came to light throughout his career at USC. He's got the tools though.

7b. Scott Burley, OT, Maryland - Burley is a versatile player that was a 4 year starter at Maryland on the offensive line. During his junior and senior season, he played spot duty as a defensive tackle. He's a good character off the field and helps mentor young children.

7c. Morgan Trent, CB, Michigan - High risk player with a potential for big reward. Tries too hard to make the big play at times and gets beat for his actions. If he could get his discipline under control, he could be very solid. Would start off down on the depth chart, but could work his way up well.

This is not counting in free agency.

Either this draft, or we could trade all our picks to the Oaxaca Maracas for the rights to WR Juan Huron.

just gonna say this, it will probably be Harris OR Delmas, but probably not both

That's one of the things I've been debating. But I'm just leaving it like this for now. I also like Sherrod Martin for CB. So, I'm the type to mix and match. Next mock won't be till the combine though.

really like the mock. don't think will take two defensive backs though. Have a hard time seeing Turner or Trent being there in the 7th round. Trent will end up running of the fastest times at the combine and Turner is having too good of a senior bowl week to be there in the 7th

Not really excited about this mock

Two OLB picks in the 1st and 4th I cant see happening with the signing of Wake.
Two secondary picks in the 2nd round. I like the Delmas pick but I would really think O-Line would be addressed ahead of CB.

Later round picks are nice but I would only pick 1 OLB in the first 5 picks and address O-line/NT ahead of CB

I have to believe more early picks will be spent on the trenches. Injuries decimated our o-line last year, I find it hard to believe our front office will be content with our current backups.

Cushing, as I stated, I would like to see at inside linebacker in the Phins 3-4.

Macho Harris has been an interchangeable pick for me. In this one, I'm just picking as suits needs I believe for the team.

Note I have Satele starting at center next season with Smiley and Thomas returning full health.

This mock was just basing on what we have now, not what could be come Feb 27th. I think all these players have the potential to make an impact somehow.

MFT might be there. He's getting abused down in mobile from NFLDC reports. His speed isn't gonna save him

I don't like Macho Harrs as much as some other people I guess. I still think he would be around to take in the 3rd round. Alphonso Smith, though short, I think is far superior as far as NFL type corners. I think Macho Harris will end up playing FS in the NFL.

i like it but two things bother me:

1- snagging macho and delmas is down right impossible with our 2 2nd rounders...

2- drafting two OLBs who rely on athleticism, speed and technique... not that there's a problem with that, but you know this staff loves their SOLB to be big, powerful and stout at the point of attack to seal the edge, right now, Roth and Merling are the only contenders. If they were to draft cushing, they'd take a bigger fellow in round 4 or further to devellop them as SOLB...

Trent is an interesting prospect in my mind. He tries too hard to make the big play, but I think he could be a good player with some discipline.

As for Macho Harris, I think he's improving mightily at corner. He's had a good week at the Senior Bowl practices. I feel he has all the tools to continue to improve.

Yea JT, I know what you mean about the SOLB...which is why I put Will Davis. He's got good size to play it and I'd try Cushing on the inside.

pretty good mock, one of the more SENSABLE ones i have seen.

CUSHING though has been a MAJOR dissapointment at the
senior bowl. he has a pretty lengthy injury history also.

not a first round guy and i bet he slips to the bottom of the
second round.

URBIK is one of my favoite players in this draft. i think he could end
up being the best guard coming out. depends on where he ends up.

MACHO HARRIS sealed the deal for me at the senior bowl. he made
big plays and pics all week at the S/B. he is great at jumping routes and is
a killer red zone defender.

he is somewhat like sam maddison in the way that he can make up for his
peddestrian speed with taking the proper angles. many thought he was a
going to be a press cb only but i think he proved he can play man off in
zone also. i would be estatic at this point if we selected him. you just can not
have enough real playmakers on your team and we need them in the WORST
way.

i really don't know why you think cushing was a disapointment at the senior bowl NRA.... he's arguably the LB who helped himself the most this week, some scouts also think that he had a better week than his teammate Maualuga...

as for will davis, i really know nothing about him so i couldn't say...

Will Davis, to me, looked like he had good speed off the edge in the line drills. He's athletic as I stated, being recruited first as a wide receiver.

I really don't see why some people say Macho Harris will be a FS in the NFL. I've watched just about every one of his games the past 3 years...kid will play corner in the pros...and damn well. He plays faster than he will time at the combine.

I enjoy watching Macho play. He has good instincts and goes after the ball without taking himself out of the play.
