A high school girls basketball team that beat an opponent 100-0 has a case of blowout remorse. The winning school now says it wants to do the right thing by seeking a forfeit and apologizing for the margin of victory.

"It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened," the head of the school said Thursday on The Covenant School's Web site. He added that Covenant has made "a formal request to forfeit the game recognizing that a victory without honor is a great loss."

Girl's Hoops Coach Fired After 100-0 Win

The coach of a girls' high school basketball team in Texas that blew out another team 100-0 was fired Sunday after refusing to apologize "for a wide-margin victory."

Micah Grimes, former coach of Covenant School girl's basketball team, defended the win in an e-mail to the Dallas Morning News, saying
"my girls played with honor and integrity."

The Covenant School, a private Christian high school in Dallas, which formally apologized for the big win over Dallas Academy, a small private school for students with learning disabilities, last week, called the trouncing "shameful."

How in the world to you lose 100-0? I mean, at some point you have to at least get lucky and hit a prayer shot...right?

this hole story is shameful.
they should not surrender the loss.
the coach should not have been fired for not agreeing with an apology.
and i thought the final score was 100-01. atleast thats what it was the first time i heard the story.

I dont know, I believe in competition, my high school JV team freshmen year got destroyed by Santalucious High, 81-6. No hard feelings, you dont let up, you dont watch the score board. You play hard, all the time. What was the coach supposed to do? Tell those girls not to play their best?
