Whats Yours?

To me Any given sunday really was not all that great and Friday Night Lights sucked. The best football movie for me was The Program. I remember every Friday before a game my coach would put that on and the whole team just wanted crush someones sternum. Truth be told i actually bruised a kids sterum after the first time i watched it. And did an alligator role and broke someones ankle the same game.

I have always loved "Remember the Titans"

The run to Rev with Ronnie Bass blocking is just sick.

for me its a tie between:

Any Given Sunday
The Waterboy
The Program

But,, Honerable mention has to go out to one of the funniest movies ever imo. The Replacements. Whenever that movie is on TV, I have to stop and watch it.

Any Given Sunday is one of the best movies of all time, football based or otherwise.

Cmon man, it's Jamie Foxx, Al Pacino and James Woods in a movie dealing with football controversies, drugs and strippers. Doesn't get a whole lot better than that in my opinion.

Definitely Ace Ventura, Bad Boyz II, or Little Nicky. Any one of those with Dan Marino in it has to be considered one of the best...j/k. Remember the Titans or the Program are my favorites.

C'Mon guys. Any Given Sunday has to be one of the WORST football movies of all times. It was pathetic. It had absolutely no semblance of reality AT ALL. It was a stab at football by the ******* in hollywood...that's it.

Remember the Titans, Rudy, The Junction Boys, Radio, We Are Marshalll, and Gridiron Gang are the best football movies I have seen, mainly because they are based on true stories.

The worst are Any Given Sunday because its so unrealistic (getting your eye ripped out)....and Friday Night Lights because they butchered the story...the book was a million times better.

Mine is The Replacements.

I enjoyed Varsity Blues a great deal. That reallydid remind me of TX high school football. BTW, the scene where Tweeter wants Mox to get into the stolen Police car where they are outside the store IS downtown of every small TX town I've been to in Central and, western TX.

Necessary Roughness I loved. "I thought you were gonna do one of these" was a line that makes me laugh every single time I hear it. "BLOW THE WHISTLE! BLOW THE WHISTLE!" I also liked that the whole premise of the movie was that they were going after thier first win.

The Replacements had it's moments. That's Mrs Goon's favorite football movie.

The Program was good. I honestly find most football dramas kind of contrived and hack.

ETA: The Junction Boys has to be my favorite football drama.

that's a good question b/c none of them really stand out above the rest. if it was baseball then the natural is a definite and with basketball hoosiers was the best - but football is a toughy. i would have to go with the longest yard (original, of course).

I was awestruck with how bad the remake of The Longest Yard was. I watched the whole things because I was made to, and at the end, I honestly had no words...Which is unheard of for me.

I ended up watching that one twice in theatres...mainly because I got dragged along into it.

Craptastic.

i'm still mad at burt for being involved in that travesty. i was actually glad when caretaker died in the remake. and i was rooting for the guards to win.

I wouldn't say it's the best but the speech at the end of Something for Joey is even more tear jerking than the speech at the end of Brian's Song. It's the story about John Cappiletti and his younger brother who was dying of leukaemia when he won the Heisman.

I really like Remember the Titans, another one of my favorite all-time movies. That movie has fantastic acting, a terrific soundtrack, and even some great football scenes. It really is one of the best.

The original Longest Yard with Joe Kapp and Burt Reynolds is very good. I like Jerry Macguire a lot but i'm not sure thats a "football" movie. Any Given Sunday is very well acted by Al Pacino but i'm not a huge fan of the actual movie.

I like a lot more Baseball movies than i do Football movies.

Baseball lends itself to effective cinema more than football, IMO.
