I could have put this in the recommendation thread or the war movie thread but this movie is so good it deserves its own thread.

This movie is a true story, and I mean this in every sense of the word. It's uncanny how real and honest it is.

It's about a bloody revolution that happens during 1954 when a terrorist/freedom fighter organization starts to attack the French police in order to force France to give up control of Algeria.

The movie is so honest in its portrayal of both the French Army and the militants that neither are seen as heroes. You see the ugly side from both ends. It's so authentic that one of the "terrorist" actually plays himself in the movie.

If you haven't seen it, watch it. If you are into realism, this is your baby.
