For Marion and Marcus Banks.

Breaking on ESPN.

J. O'Neal and Jamario Moon for Marion and Banks.

I think we really lucked out here..
It happens the night after Marion gets a dunk with one second left to put us up by 2 and to win the game.

There's no links available, but a source told me today....

I the Heat come out winners in this trade. Joel Anthony, Blount and Magloire are all pretty good and have been nice role players, I really like what Anthony does defensively..
J Oniel gives us a starting Center that can help us form talented "big" formations using combos of either Oneil/Anthony or whoever to go against teams that have two 7-footers on the floor...
This also allows for more playing time for Beasley..

Marion you've been great, sorry for the tough season last year, you have been instrumental in getting us to the #5 spot in the East...
Wish you well with the Raptors, and thanks for sacrificing yourself for the good of the Heat.

This trade makes us a better team. Add in Jamario Moon, a former Globetrotter who can backup/compete with Beasley or at the SG spot behind Wade..
I'm really happy we got great value for Marion, he's a soon to be FA and we probably wouldn't resign him.. He also had a huge cap number so it's nice that was takin by the Rap.

Oh I'm in Rapture, thank you Raptors.

I thought it was a good deal. We upgrade our frontcourt without having to get rid of Haslem or Beasley.

Count me as a fan.

The Toronto Raptors (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=tor) have agreed to send Jermaine O'Neal (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=615) and Jamario Moon (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3249) to the Miami Heat (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=mia) in exchange for Shawn Marion (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=510) and Marcus Banks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2165), league sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

Good trade by the Heat. They really needed a big man, and got a good one in O'Neal. Trading away Marion will give Beasley alot of playing time. Moon is a decent SF as well.

Hopefully this takes the Heat out of the Amare Stoudemire negotiations. Between injuries, new surgeries required as follow ups, lack of defense, and a contract that expires in 1.5 years, giving up Beasley straight up, let alone Beasley AND Marion sent shudders down my spine. Just hope this isn't pivot trade to package Beasley and O'Neill for him.

Awesome, now lets just hope O'neal can stay healthy.

The Heat also got a conditional first round pick, top 14 protected till 2014.

Yeah, this pretty much ended any chance of them getting Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer in FA.

I like this trade.

twas a trade both teams needed. Marion, while a very good player, is not an ideal fit for the Heat's system and he does kind of hinder Beasley's development. Plus, O'Neal allows Haslem to move back to the 4.

JO also really wasn't needed in Toronto. He's been hurt this year, but with Bargnani playing so well in his absence, JO was out. Plus, Toronto swingmen have been really poor this year.

Its a good trade if O'Neal can stay upright. Moon is a nice little bonus who shouldn't have much trouble outperforming Marion.

The NBA really needs to put a stop to teams selling draft picks though. Colangelo did this nonsense in Phoenix as well. That team gave up Deng, Fernandez, and Rondo for nothing.

I really like it because it gives us a legit guy at center again. Beats the triumvirate we have at the position now.

Should get us to the 4 spot if J O'Neal stays healthy.

U almost want to keep Banks as he gave you that 3rd PG, as well as a guy who can play the 2. But he wasn't getting any burn anyways, more of a safety net I guess. We are pretty thin at Guard, as we have 2 PG's and 2 SG's . . . I mean I guess Moon and a healthy D Wright can play the 2, but it is not ideal. Could use a backup versatile guard . . . one who plays PG, but can also play the 2. Guess we will be fine tho. Moon has played wayyyy more minutes this year than Banks, he and Cook probably will be the first 2 off the bench.

I like the trade, because it finally gives Miami a legit C in O'Neal (when he's healthy) instead of having to guess what C gets the call before each game.

hey with wade and an o'neil we we win championchips! i love this trade!

If we get four spot, we can beat Atlanta... I really think with Wade on the team we can win any series, it will be tough against the big 3, BOS, ORL, CLE.. but hey the Mavericks had one only 12-14 losses that year and we whooped em'..

Wade + O'neil = Championships...

Lets just hope Jermaine is enough of an O'neil as Shaqtus

Truth. Beats having Anthony, Magloire, and Blount out there.

A huge upgrade.

Getting rid of Banks' contract was one of the best parts of the deal too.

Well I don't think we win with O'neal at Center, he definitely makes that more possible these next 2 years.

Miami I have been told come 2010 will have the most cap space of any NBA team . . . and as been widely reported, that is the summer where all of the big dawgs will be on the market.

Obviously priority one is resigning Wade, so that takes away cap room right there . . . but there is still enough to go after a big. Amare or Bosh . . . hell maybe the Heat are satisfied with Jermaine . . . I doubt that is the case come 2010, but just having that flexibility for that summer was huge . . . and we got another 1st round pick out of it. And we keep Beasley which IMO is huge. Wade, Beasley and Bosh/Amare . . . that should bring another championship down here within the next 5 years.

It's a great trade whether he stays healthy or not. Obviously, I want the guy to get healthy and keep us competitive for the next 2 years, but his contract is much more valuable as it gives us the most cap space in the league in 2010, with only Cook, Chalmers, and Beasley on the books. That will allow us to sign 2 max contracts and another great player. (just to give an idea, Wade/Lebron/Bosh all in Miami in 2010 is possible, of course the chances of that happening would be a miracle). I'm glad they actually took Banks' horrible contract.

Getting rid of Banks' mammoth contract, along with freeing up all the cap space for 2010 makes this a great deal.

I was just looking at the Heat roster...are they really giving Moon #33?

They can't be. That'd be blasphemy.

That's the big prize for Miami in 2010. It's no secret that Riles absolutely wants Chris Bosh in the worst way.

With Wade/Bosh/Beasley/Chalmers/Haslem/ONeill we will be a fun team to watch. Hopefully ONeill can stay healthy. It will be nice to see Wade along side a big man again!
