Hey guys. Just trying to get a feeling of what kind of music you all listen to. My top five albums are, in no particular order:

"Sakura" - Susumu Yokota; beautiful ambient electronica from Japan.
"Loveless" - My Bloody Valentine; noise/dream pop from Ireland
"I See a Darkness" - Bonnie "Prince" Billy; alternative folk from Louisiana
"If I Should Fall from Grace with God" - The Pogues; Celtic punk from Ireland
"Superunknown" - Soundgarden; hard rock/grunge from Seattle

Look forward to your replies.

wow. that's tough. do greatest hits albums count? if so ...

1. the essential dylan (if no greatest hits count then blood on the tracks.)
2. the band - greatest hits (if no greatest hits then the band, 1969 - hate to leave off the weight.)
3. appetite for destruction - gnr. i love gnr and its hard to pick over use your illusion II and gnr lies but this one was intense.
4. allman brothers decade of hits 1969 -1979. there isn't an album with melissa, blue sky, and wastin time no more so if greatest hits doesn't count this one gets removed.
5. pablo honey - radio head. this is one of those few album you can listen to all the way through. pablo honey is probably the last album radiohead fans would pick but they just got too weird after the bends.

greatest hits albums are probably lame to put but they are hard to argue with. paul's boutique, are you experienced, zeppelin II, legend, the wall, at folsom prison, moondance, august and everything after, 40 ounces to freedom, skeletons in the closet, and siamese dream were also amazing and worth being slotted in there. i also love within a mile of home (flogging molly) and resident alien (spacehog), but that's just me.

noticed you were from limerick. i've been trying to move to galway for about 3 years now - wish i was more into computers b/c it seems like that's the only way to get there. you guys are just growing so fast - not letting us ignorant americans in. props on that pogues album - you are officially the only other person i know (of i guess) that listens to them.

Nice one lads. All good choices, of course the Beatles feature heavily as they always do. Amazing how many people of all ages still are into them. Very influential.

To me, Sgt. Pepper's was one of the most influential albums of all time. It just completely changed the music landscape.

How cool! It's great to talk to a Therapy? fan who lives in Ireland. I love that band. Years ago ('93) I was in a local record store here in the Midwest and came across a promo cassette copy of "Nurse" and I was instantly hooked. Therapy? has been to the states a few times. During the "Troublegum" tour they opened for King's X at a club in my area. We went to the show and their were only a few of us loyal fans there. The girlfriend and I left after they played and went out and knocked on the bus. They invited us in for drinks. Turned out to be a helluva' night. Andy and Michael treated us like gold. Fyfe not so much.

You're right "Infernal Love" is an amazing record too. I'm also a big fan of "Suicide Pact-You First".

Wow, that's a great story finfang. I have been told that Andy in particular is a lovely guy and very friendly towards fans. Kind of surprising for a man that writes lines like "I gonna get drunk, come round and f*ck you up" lol. They don't tour as much anymore, which is a pity.

Holy crap, I could never rank them. Hell, I can barely even narrow it down to 5. Here is what I have today. This would definitely be different next week though.

Counting Crows - August and Everything After
Lydia - This December; It's One More and I'm Free
Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
Silverstein - Discovering the Waterfront
Bayside - Acoustic

I could list so many more albums that are great, those are just the first 5 that came to mind...

The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Kinks - Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneyground
Patti Smith - Horses

Heh...I love Meatloaf. His cover of "Promised Land" was a favorite. I don't understand why anyone would dislike Bat Out Of Hell. It was origional, even in it's time, and, I think it holds up very well over time.

I'm more embarassed about High Infidelity...lol. Everyone has all these obscure and coll bands I've never heard of.....And I....I have REO Speedwaggon.
