Utah DB Sean Smith ran forty times of 4.47 and 4.49 at the Utes' Pro Day.
The times are nearly identical to Smith's from the Combine. The 6'4/210 pound underclassman also jumped 32" vertically and posted a 9-foot-5 inch broad jump. Smith has a good chance to go late in this year's first round.

Who said this kid was not a Cornerback.

though Brice McCain might have stolen the show with his 40-yard dash times, which were faster than any cornerback’s time at the NFL combine.

McCain, who measured in at 5-foot-9 and 181 pounds, ran times of 4.33 and 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-foot-3 broad jump. He looked very good in position drills, and he put up 12 repetitions of 225 pounds on the bench press

Seems like Miami could draft two corners in this year draft.

Welcome to Round 1 Mr. Smith

I hope Sean Smith's vertical is a typo. Samson Satele's was 32 or 33 at the combine and he's a C.

Still a nice prospect, but I picture him as more of a FS than a CB, and with Gibril Wilson signed...

I love him. I want him at 25, plain and simple.

I wish he would fall to us at the beggining of round 2. Land an OLB in the first.

Am I the only one who gets kind of a Jason Allen type of vibe from him? These 'tweener CB/S prospects kind of scare me a bit.

it concerns me.

but i have concerns that macho harris is more of a cover 2 corner in the pros despite his very effective jam.

i am sure he can jump higher then that but he also doesnt need to be a great jumper to get the ball he is 6-4

I think this tweener is the real deal. If they take him it will have to be at 25 because I don't believe he will be on the board at 44.

Its my understanding that a cover 2 shell is used by teams who run the 3-4. Ideally, CB in this scheme tend to be built more like safeties. Bryant McFadden, for example, is 6'0" 190.

The reason IMO Tuna & Co are looking at Smith is he fits the concept of versatility which seems to be something the phins like in players. It would not bother me if Sean Smith was a phin next year.

FWIW; “pure” CB’s I like; Alphonso Smith and Marquis Hundley (Arizona)

The trinity should look @ Paul Kruger (DE from Utah). He'd make a great SOLB. He's athletic and smart (played QB in HS). He's raw and might take a year or two to come into his own in the NFL but would be an upgrade @ SOLB. He should go in the 3rd round.

I have looked high & low on the internet for PK's int of Max Hall (Utah v BYU 11/22/08) but can't find it. PK drops into Zone Coverage & drifts across the field where Hall threw it right to him. Paul almost scored.

I heard somewhere that his vertical was 42. . could be a typo. .

If Connor Barwin is gone, we will try to trade down IMO and try to get another 2nd rounder and then take someone like Smith or Butler.

biggest difference is Allen came off a serious hip injury that took his turning ability away. The only person that thought he could play CB when we drafted him was Saban, and then Cameron. Smith can actually move fluidly.

I wouldn't mind taking him.
