Florida WR Percy Harvin posted a 37 1/2-inch vertical and a 10'1" broad jump at the Gators' Pro Day Wednesday.
Harvin, who stood on his 4.41 Combine forty, also reportedly showed "great explosion" in wideout drills. The true junior benched 225 20 times after putting up 19 reps in Indianapolis. He's a surefire first-round pick.

Say what you want to, Percy Harvin is being looked at by the trifecta, and he's no more of a smokescreen than Clay Matthews or any other player.

University of Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin had another strong workout, reportedly impressing several NFL wide receivers coaches as well as Minnesota Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman, Carolina Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney and Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik.

That should tell you ALL YOU SHOULD KNOW, lol

No way we draft him if hes available (which he wont) but if hes there at 25 I would listen to offers for that pick because you know teams will be calling...

Good Point...He would be the one to trade up for if hes there...and maybe we can get another 2nd and a third!! NICE.

I want nothing to do with Percy Harvin. Much like Ohio State LB's, and Penn State RB's, Florida WR's have pretty much been mediocre or have sucked completely in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/topic/sports/football/jacksonville-jaguars-ORSPT000180.topic) wide receivers coach Todd Monken can attest to Harvin's claim.

"If you give it to him in space, he's going to score," Monken said. "He's got a chance to change the game.

Harvin also said a lot of people are comparing him to or thinking of using him like a Wes Welker (90+ receptions a season)!

With this in mind, and seeing the great contributions that Welker has made in New England, Would you draft him to replace Bess as the starter and add depth to the slot WR position? They both could be used in the 4 WR set to give the defense fits.

He might be more beneficial to the Dolphins passing game than a speedy OUTSIDE WR with Pennington's arm what it is and his accuracy in the short passing game.

Bingo. He has major, major quicks and could team up with Pennington on slants, drags, etc. He makes defenders miss, big time. He's a different animal from Ginn, people just don't want to see it.

In those pictures, his right leg seems underdeveloped or atrophied!!

Ugliest looking knee on an athlete I've ever seen without surgery scars!!

Those pictures means nothing. everyone posts them. it doesnt prove he isnt soft. Benching 405 says you are a good bench presser, not that you are tough or durable, which he isnt. Bess is prolly a better pro than Harvin, at least Bess can go over the middle and not get hurt. Harvin is a waste. Go put those pics back on your nightstand so you have something to do tonight.

jim,

I must apologize.. you were right about Harvin. The kid is super nasty. His hands impressed me big time today!

Harvin isn't soft in the least. Far from it, actually. Unless you think playing in the championship game on a hairline fracture and running all over Oklahoma makes you soft.

Harvin is special. I don't care if he went to Florida or not.

if most of the people really saw Harvin play, they would be dying for him to get drafted to this team. if these are the same people claiming Ginn is gonna pan out, and Ginn just needs time blah blah....GINN NEEDS Testies!!!! Ginn is not 1/4 the player Harvin will be come game1. this guy is gonna be lighting it up for yrs to come. he is special!

yeah but how many WR's are considered tough? I mean, for crying out loud, the guy out there for the Bills is probly tougher than most and he cries about his QB! I'm no Harvin lover, but a little perspective please.

I also can't understand where the Harvin-haters are coming from.
This guy has ridiculous speed and makes Ted Ginn look like he is running with hiking boots on. Harvin averages close to a 1st down every time he touches the ball....not just from the receiving position. I think Harvin would be a perfect fit as he can be used out of the Wildcat and utilized for quick 5 to 10 yard slants like Wes Welker.....everytime he touches the ball he can break it for a TD. I think if Harvin is there at #25 I have no problems taking him. If he is gone, I would take Darius Butler, CB, UConn, or Clay Matthews, LB, USC.

Yo Skippy.....why you hating on Harvin? Did you ever actually watch a Gator's football game?

i hate saying this in every harvin thread. you don't rush for 10 plus yards in the SEC by being soft. yes, he has some injury issues - ankles mainly. but there is nothing about this guy that is soft. would you say bo jackson was soft b/c of his injuries? not a chance. he plays hard and after the ball is in his hands its all over.

but we have two guys in bess and ginn who are relatively similar so i will pass on him. if it weren't for them i'd want him on this team bad.

The Harvin-Hate is rooted in the fact that the guy will never play a full season in the NFL and that he has no natural position in the NFL. He'd be a change of pace back or #2 receiver at best. He can't be a Wes Welker kind of guy for us because we don't have Randy Moss drawing safety attention every play, so the idea that Harvin can come in and be a +90 catch a year guy is absurd. We already have our Wes Welker; his name's Davone Bess.

He averages a first down per touch because the Gator offense is based around misdirection. If you don't know that the fastest guy on the field has the ball, it goes without saying that you may have a tough time keeping this fast guy from getting big yards. So in the role of the motion man in our typical wildcat play, Harvin could very easily do well.

I understand the guys is versatility, but what I want in the first round is a guy who can be a starter. I'd prefer getting a guy just for his versatility in the later rounds.
