Seeing that the Final 4 is running down this week, it got me thinking..who was the best College Hoops team ever assembled?

My choice is the 1989-90 UNLV Rebels.

3 NBA Draft picks (Anthony, Augmon, LJ), 35-5 record, and they won the title game by 30 points.

Probably one of the top, if not the top, starting 5's ever. Coached by Jerry Tarkanian, one of the top coaches ever.

What do you guys think?

I think I would have to go with one of the great UCLA teams of the late '60's, early 70's. Bill Walton. Lew Alcindor.

Also, that 1990 UNLV team was one of the best teams I've seen in my lifetime but I think the best team in my lifetime was the 1996 Kentucky team with Tony Delk and Antoine Walker.

I've also heard a lot about the undefeated Indiana team in the 1970's—the last undefeated team to win a title.

To me, that 90 UNLV team had probably the best Starting 5 ever...but that's just my opinion.

96' Kentucky team. Not even a debate

Yeah, I've got to go with the '96 UK team. They had draft picks coming off the bench for that team.

Comparing teams of different generations is pretty much impossible. The game changes, rules change, players get more athletic, stronger, etc. Perhaps it's better done by decade.

Off the top of my head:

1968 UCLA Bruins
1976 Indiana Hoosiers
1996 Kentucky Wildcats

Don't forget about that 1992 Duke team, but I completely agree on the Kentucky team . . . that team was deep as HELL.

Duke had some talented squads from like 1999 to 2001 . . . guys like Battier, Brand, Maggette, Jay Williams, Boozer, Duhon, Langdon, Avery and others.

I hate the Gators but what they did was impressive a few years ago, they get slept on big time but they played great team ball those back to back championships.

I sometimes wish we would have been privilaged to watch a guy like Lebron, Kobe, Howard and Garnett just give us one year of college . . . and do something special like Carmello did in his one year at Syracuse. Oh well, guess we have that now.
