Woman finds $357,959 cashier's check and returns it

LOS ANGELES As she walked from a post office, Talon Curtis thought she'd found one of those gimmicky sweepstakes offers on the ground that scream something like "$357,959.55" in big bold letters and "This is not a real check" in much smaller type. But just as she was about to do her part for a cleaner planet and deliver the paper from the parking lot to a trash can, she noticed it was a real cashier's check with a real signature.

WOW! She wouldn't even take a reward ...

When I was 18 I worked at a local supermarket and found a purse in the parking lot on top of a shopping cart and it had dollar bills sticking out of it. I thought about taking it but I kept thinking "what if they're watching me with the cameras and this is a test to see if the employees would do the right thing?" If the money was still inside the purse I would have taken it, but it just seemed waay too convenient. I ended up taking it back in the store so someone could claim it. Funny thing is my ******* boss probably took it himself.

I would shed a tear as I handed it over... but yeah, I am a good boy.

Even if you were dishonest, how would you go about cashing a $357,959.55 cashier's check? It seems like it would be extremely difficult to cash it without being able to prove it belongs to you and that you acquired it by legal means. Who would cash a check that size if you just walked up to them and said, "Hey, I found this on the sidewalk. Will you please deposit it into my account?"

I'd have kept it.

Honesty is admitting you would keep it.

Hellz Naw. But phinpunk14 makes a good point, to anyone other than who it was originally drawn for, it would be useless.

I would only return for fear that I would be caught trying to cash it and be arrested or something like that..

However, I would for sure be taking the reward.. I don't have enough money to be turning down free money.

I would eagerly take a reward but that's only because like Phinpunk14 said, it would seem too weird cashing a check that big.

But if it was cash, I would be obligated to snatch it up.
