View Full Version : David Letterman & Sarah Palin: War of Words

From Todd Palin: "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable.

Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."

From Governor Sarah Palin: "Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"

Sarah's right, 14?!

That's way too old!

Is a bozo-bimbo steel cage match in their future?

Sounds like someone needs a bottle and a nap.

Sounds like someone needs a bottle and a nap.

That...sounds...really great actually. Sign me up.

and lol at the Palin's taking offense to this. Talk about twisting the words around. If anyone should be offended it would be Spitzer for being labeled a statutory rapist. I wish Sarah Palin would go back to spying on Russia.

On Wednesday, Letterman tried to quiet the controversy, joking, "I am hardly a celebrity. I am 62, yes!"

He insisted the joke was targeted at 18-year-old Bristol Palin, a single mother, and not 14-year-old Willow Palin, who was the Palin daughter at the ballgame.

"These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter," Letterman stressed. "I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl."

Palin is a pretty good distortion artist. No one even knows the name of her dozen other children, but lets pretend he meant something else.

Sarah Palin Calls for Uprising Against Letterman for Joke About Her Daughter

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called on the public to rise up in opposition over David Letterman's "degrading" jokes about her daughter this week (http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=7813112). In a Friday morning television interview on NBC's "Today" show, Gov. Palin said the late-night comedian's remarks are a "sad commentary on where we are as a culture, as a society, to chuckle and laugh through comments such as he had made the other night, I think is quite unfortunate."

I really wish she would just let it go...

I wouldn't want someone making jokes about my family that I might find crude or inappropriate but that's the way it is when you put yourself out there as somewhat of a famous person.

Palin Accepts Letterman's Apology

"Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve," the statement read.

"Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=7848047&page=1)about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction. And this is all thanks to our U.S. military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's right to free speech - in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."

Despite an apology Monday night from David Letterman, a protest rally outside of Letterman's Ed Sullivan Theater in New York will still go on as planned Tuesday, according to its organizer.

Political documentarian and conservative radio talk show host, John Ziegler, tells CNN that the point of the rally is to, "Raise awareness and get some sort of accountability."

That is so unnecessary...

That is so unnecessary...

Welcome to the modern GOP where two plus two equals cat. It is almost as if some satirist was creating a vaguely dadaist, non-sequitur styled parody of reactionary conservatism.

The worst part... I consider myself to be a moderate conservative...

Sometimes I wish people would get over this dumb **** and look at something more pressing... like how in the hell spending a lot of money we don't have will make the economy better?!?!?!

But that is a totally different argument.

BTW, I'm drinking Dos Equis beer right now... the best beer I've ever had:hi5:

It has nothing to do with the GOP, and everything to do with Palin trying to leapfrog to the forefront for 2012. She's trying to force the issue, and there really isn't one here. Letterman's still an ***.
