A cross-country US Airways flight was diverted to Albuquerque after a male passenger removed his clothing mid-flight. Dan Jiron, a spokesman for the Albuquerque airport, said 50-year-old Keith Wright of New York disrobed Tuesday while sitting in his seat in the back of the aircraft. He said Wright was unresponsive when a flight attendant asked him repeatedly to get dressed and refused to be covered with a blanket.:ponder:

...there were two off-duty police from Los Angeles, one city and one county, who helped detain Wright on board the aircraft after he began stripping off his clothes and running around the cabin.

Merge, please.

What is the crime?

You must not fly much.

It's a federal offense to fail to comply with a flight attenant's instructions and/or interfiere with a flight crew.

If he's running around the cabin, it is a safety risk for every passenger on that aircraft. What happens if he gets hold of one of the door releases? Maybe breaks down the cabin door to the cockpit?

I used to fly between 30-60 legs a year. After 9-11 my tolerance for shenannigans in the aircraft reached an all time low. If I were on board, I certainly would have made sure he was "Detained". I probably would not have been as nice about it as those officers, though.

If you look to your left, you can see the wonderful landscape of New Mexico's desert. And to your right, the crazed antics of a drug-fueled, naked man.

RDS drives The Shaggin' Wagon. He don't fly, what's the matter with you?
