What is it with Jesus (and other religious figures) showing up in food and food related products?

The thing is, we don't really even know what Jesus looked like. People are seeing an artists rendition of Jesus if anything...IMHO.

And oddly, all the artists' renderings of Jesus I had seen growing up proposed a western european Jesus, denying his true heritage. What does it say about our churches (at least the ones I've been to), that they can't hang an honest depiction on their walls:

Yeah, I've been in black churches that had a black Jesus and white churches that had a white Jesus hanging on the wall. I think it just says that people have a need for Jesus to look like themselves because of our unfortunate but common racial bias.

Thing is, because the conception of Jesus was divinely inspired, is it not possible he could have been born with Western European features or of a dark skin? Even if the Bible says noting about his features, it still does'nt rule out the possibility.

Actually, this is a very good point. If you are going to rely on the Bible as a divine or mundanely written account, then you must believe in the concept of the immaculate conception. Carrying that concept forward, since the ultimate power in the universe (Again, if you believe in the Christian god) who is to say what, exactly Jesus looked like? Heck, he could've been purple for all we know.
