It "might" be a coincidence but 2 times in the past 2 days my Kaspersky anti virus has caught 2 trojan viruses when I have visited this site.

Just an FYI...

If someone needs more info please email me at my yahoo account.

Doubt you would get it from this site but here is some advice.

always surf with Firefox and when you do get the addon "Noscripts" I would also suggest using a quality virus scanner like AVG and stay away from Norton and macafreeze as they are both crap.

It is from this site. Kind of ridiculous really. If you aren't a vip member, then get noscript/firefox or else you will have trojans infect your system.

Im all for ad generated revenue but has anyone else noticed the banners here arent of the highest quality? Over the past couple weeks Ive had one try to download a pdf onto my computer and another redirect me to one of those "Your computer is infected" fake antivirus sites. Both of these have happened when Finheaven was the only site I had open, so I know theyre not coming from other pages.

I usually use Opera for my browsing needs, but it might be time to switch to Firefox for this site so that I can adblock this stuff. I like to support Finheaven but not at the cost of my data.

AVG just gave me a warning that a virus (Win32/cryptor) was trying to open, and this was the only site I was on at the time. It originated from my Temporary Internet Files. I am running Firefox and WinXP. Also, sometimes when I am browsing this site, Firefox will just close out of nowhere. That has happened about five times. It happens when loading the pages.

awesome, I love malware infecting my computer from malicious ads! Is this the treat we get now if we are not VIPs? Mine just got infected with the "get ripped in 4 weeks ad" Here's the log of the infections my antivirus (Avira) caught, quarantined, but this does not stop the infection.

Virus or unwanted program 'HIDDENEXT/Crypted [heuristic]'
detected in file 'I:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\IDT9Y2XJ\load[1].php.

Virus or unwanted program 'EXP/Pidief.yag [exploit]'
detected in file 'I:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\30bl6kox.default\Cache\EF4511E3d01.

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/PCK.Tdss.Y.1530 [trojan]'
detected in file 'I:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\504QCYKL\cache[1].php.

And yes, banner ads can contain malicious malware, in fact, one of the biggest PITA malwares is linked to this phenomenon: the Antivirus 2008/Microsoft Antivirus 2009/Antivirus 2010 malwares. The new Antivirus 2010 version of the malware even recognizes EXEs for many of the common virus detectors and deletes it so you cannot use it to remove the infection, particularly Malwarebytes. Just search Google for "virus can't find MBAM.exe" Excuse me now while I go try and get rid of this.....

If you system restore your laptop, you should fix it. When the laptop boots up, keep hitting F8 until you can choose safe mode, and then restore the laptop to a date before it all happened. The earlier, the better. It won't effect most saved work, so you should be fine.

Do you use Firefox? If so, use NoScript.

http://noscript.net/

It blocks anything that may be malicious on a website. Now, it will block all sorts of Java and the like, but you can allow script from individual sites you know you can trust. It is the best solution until staff fixes this, I presume.

Restart your computer, and keep hitting F8 while it boots up, and select safe mode. When you get to safe mode, you will have the option of running system restore. Pick a date before the virus was installed. It goes back months, so you should find an appropriate date.

Nope, no bugs for me. About 95%, or better, of the things that my family does are from a Linux or Unix-like (PC-BSD, FreeBSD, etc...) environment. That alone gets us out of the loop of the majority of the viruses, malware, and spyware. We still have Windows available on several machines if it is needed but for the most part, the only reason we log into a Windows platform is to make sure that everything is updated. That normally happens when I do my weekly maintenance....

Adblock and everything are great, I use it myself, but that doesn't change the fact that it shouldn't be happening to those who don't have Adblock, Linux, etc. They shouldn't have to change anything just to come to this site. Not to mention those who access it from work (myself included) who are stuck using IE.

Though it's a good idea for them to add these safeguards to protect themselves on the internet in general, the onus is on us to fix this in regards to this site.

You're absolutely right. People shouldn't have to deal with those types of issues. Unfortunately, the reality is that if you host a site it will always be a potential target to be used for exploiting visitors who frequent it. You kind of have to change the way you do things to protect yourself not just from problems at Finheaven but to protect yourself from the dangers of the internet as a whole.

I installed Firefox and the applications that we suggested on my work computer. It helps that I have administrative rights on it but not all workplaces allow their employees to have such rights.

Again, very true. It does need to be fixed. How long will it stay that way after doing so? It's only a matter of time before the next attack. The future problems may not be as severe as this matter but let's face it, it could actually be a lot worse. Finheaven taking ownership of this situation is the right thing to do but it is my responsibility to make sure that my machines are protected. To do that, I am willing to consider any options that will help me to realize that....

Sorry if it came across as if I was disagreeing with you, I wasn't. I can't tell you how many times I've told family and friends to switch to Firefox, install adblock, etc. and keep on top of updated security; and I can't tell you how many times I've been brushed off, only to hear them crying later because they have a virus. It gets frustrating. I'm sure you've experienced the same.

Yep there's a nasty Trojan that pops up in adobe. Norton blocks the hell out of it for me though fortunatly.

This explains why adobe updater always tries to open for me when I log on here. I haven't let it. I was wondering why. That usually only happens when I am viewing a PDF document. Thankfully I leave my zone alarm set where it prompts me when any application is trying to access the internet. It can be annoying but I like to see what is happening all the time.

The last Trojan I had was a real PITA. It disabled system restore and blocked all my virus tools from zapping it. Also any search engine used would redirect to an add site. I had to manually type the URL of the search results in a new window, couldn't click on them. I beat it by changing the name of the .exe file for my virus scanners. For example AVG.exe to 1234.exe. I was backing up all my data preparing to reformat the hard drive before I found the fix.

Sorry if it came across as if I was disagreeing with you, I wasn't.

 I didn't take it that way at all. You were simply stating that you felt that Finheaven should be responsible for making sure that the site is as safe as possible for it's guests. I agree. The staff should do that. The bottom line is that the individual needs to take on more of a role of protecting themselves because even though FH is trying their best to do the right thing, there is always someone out there that is looking to cause problems....

Once it got to the point that everyone in my household of 4 was using computers a lot, I came to the conclusion that I needed to re-evaluate how best to provide them with access. We were windows users and I am really the only person that thinks about safety on the front end. They just wanted everything to work. My two children were 12 & 5 at the time.

Well, I had to get everyone their own PC and being that I am not made of money, cost of maintenance was definitely a huge factor. That's when I started to look at alternative operating systems and other open source software. Initially, I set up a couple of PCs for me so that I could test various options. Each of the PCs had a Windows partition and also some type of Unix-like partition setup to dual-boot. I tried several operating systems before settling on one, Ubuntu, that I felt would make it easiest for me to migrate my users from Windows. I then setup all of their PCs with a dual-boot configuration of Windows/Ubuntu and explained to my users that going forward we would be primarily a Linux household as licenses expired for the Windows based stuff.

I got all kinds of resistance! I had to educate them of how they would be able to do all of the things that they were doing, have the ability to do more than they were doing and do all of this while working in a safer environment. "How am I going to work without Office and Outlook?", they would ask. "Try OpenOffice and Evolution", I replied. "How will I edit my photos?", they asked. "Check out Gimp", I answered.

That's a small taste of what I got from them during the early stages of the migration. They still had Windows so they tended to use it more. The exception to that was my 5 year old. She began using Linux almost exclusively shortly after they were introduced. It helped that she had access to a multitude of games for fun and educational purposes that she did not have when she used Windows. She was hooked!

My wife and oldest child were pretty basic users and the resistance that they were putting up was more fear of the unknown than anything else. People don't tend to like change. Would you believe that I had to make appointments with them in my own house to provide training for them? It's true!

Gradually they began to realize that open source not only allowed them to continue functioning as they had been doing in Windows but also gave them the opportunity to try other things that they had previously not been interested in before. They now had access to applications that would allow them to be more productive, creative, educate themselves and be entertained. All of this while being safer than Windows.

Oh, they still don't really care about the safety aspect very much. They just want it to work. That's how most people are. They don't think about what it takes from a standpoint of keeping things working. Just make sure that I can get to Youtube, write my paper, check my email, etc., etc.

I know that I have rambled on here. :chuckle: I guess that the point that I am making is that most people do not want to try anything different if it entails them having to put forth the effort into learing something new. Migrating my family never would have worked if I had not taken the steps that I took to educate them on the benefits of the migration. Those people that you mentioned Firefox and Adblock to are that way also. They want the additional protection but they don't want the responsibility of learning something new. That's true even if it's not that difficult a thing to do. They just want everything to work....

Your missing the most important part of the equation and that's Noscript (http://noscript.net/). No script will prevent any script from running from any website without your permission. If one of these adds contain a script (and this goes for ANY SITE) that transfers a virus or even spam to your computer Noscript (http://noscript.net/) will stop it. When you will get is a small bar at the bottom of your page letting you know scripts have been prevented on this page. SO just having and using firefox alone will not protect your computer from these typs of attacks.

I have gotten 4 alerts on Trojan Horses trying to pick on me, and 3 others trying to give me "stuff" I do not want. Everything attempted was blocked, and not a problem.

However, I am concerned for other posters who may not have the same security.

Chances are, you will move this thread, and I TOTALLY DISAGREE with that. This is where YOUR people are posting, and deserve answers.

Getting VIP's is great but, NOT at the expense of the posters who make this site.

Are you aware of the problem? Are you doing anything about it?

An answer, or at least an explanation is well warranted.

Don't be duped into thinking that Avast is 100% fool-proof. You still need to think about other means of preventing an infection instead of just relying on your virus protection only. Each of the Anti-Virus products have their strengths & weaknesses. None of them provides absolute protection.

We are aware there is a problem and we are working towards a solution. This is not a conspiracy to sign up for VIP or anything like that. There appears to be something attached to one of the ads and we are working fast to solve the problem.

Just so you all know, this ad problem has affected me also. For the time being if you do get one of these messages, restore your computer back to an earlier date and that will solve the problem. If you can not restore your computer, run it in safe mode, then you can restore it. Again, we ARE aware of the problem, we are working to fix it, and we are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.

Nice screen shot! To make NoScript work best, the user needs to take the time to learn what to block and what not to block. Some of the scripts that run are good & necessary for the functionality of the site. Others are used for things that are unnecessary for most visitors such as tracking, etc. Ideally you do not want to see that yellow bar at the bottom of the screen.

Also there are lots of other Firefox add-ons that do a great job making it a better option for browsing than Internet Explorer.

Don't be duped into thinking that Avast is 100% fool-proof. You still need to think about other means of preventing an infection instead of just relying on your virus protection only. Each of the Anti-Virus products have their strengths & weaknesses. None of them provides absolute protection.

I do have more than just virus protection. I believe there are some Phans who have nothing, and just wanna talk about their team. That is a bigger concern.

Nublar,

Little more can be asked, other than letting people know of the problem and risks. I know that is not good for business. However, I do believe it to be you obligation, as you are aware of the problem.

I hear you. Everything else that I feel is not needed, I block. I take the best whitelist that I have and import it on the profiles of the rest of my users. I then ask them not to permanently allow anything without asking. They send me feedback about sites that they have questions about, I test them, update my whitelist as needed and then provide them with feedback on what to block. It takes a little work getting it set up but once I get it right, it's all good!

System restore will not remove a virus that is already found its way onto the computer.

It will take you back to an earlier point of course but you will need to use other means such as a malware removal program to remove virus issues. When you run a removal program make sure to turn off system restore before doing so and then run it in safe mode. After you have run the scan turn System Restore back on and create a new restore point.

It is still no guarantee you will get everything so multiple removal programs may be needed. If a pop up program appears and asks to scan your computer don't do it. Chances are it will be a rogue program and will infect you even more.

Another thing. Never run more than one anti-virus program at the same time. They will conflict and cause you to be more vulnerable.

If you click the options button on the bottom right you can allow or disallow any aspect of any script that is used to create the web pages. Even adds. SO just having and using firefox alone will not protect your computer from these typs of attacks.

Anyone that is still using IE is way behind the times.

I don't knock people that like IE. They just need to be prepared to deal with the consequences if they decide that it's going to be their primary browser. If a person is cautious, they will be fine most of the time.

I never see adds or popups, but I use firefox with adblock plus (free), and I don't worry about virus's or virus protection because I use Ubuntu Linux (free).

It's true that there are not a lot of virus threats in the wild for people that use Nix systems. That does not mean that there aren't any threats at all. Ubuntu is the primary OS on my home network but I still use a certain amount of caution when I surf the web. If someone has the right skills, Ubuntu can be exploited just like any other operating system.

I would laugh if a website pretending to be my virus scanner popped up, cause I don't have a virus scanner.

I don't know of any virus/spyware protection made for Nix boxes that function the same as their Windows counterparts. Avast has a product and I know that AVG also did at one time. I'm not sure that they still do. As for me, I just use ClamAV/ClamTK.

Neither of the above products offer real-time scanning as far as I know. It's all on demand. While having an anti-virus application is not as much of a requirement as it is for a Windows machine, I find it to be useful for my needs.

I have a couple of NAS servers that are accessed by both my Windows and my Nix computers. You would not believe how many bugs I have caught on them after downloading something then scanning from Linux or PC-BSD/FreeBSD. I have also used Clam to scan Windows partitions that are known to be infected with good results. That is really helpful as if the box is already bugged, sometimes the security that is installed on the Windows side of that machine might not be as effective in detecting & removing the threat.

I have never head of NoScript or Adblock Plus before. Thank god I opened this thread up!

Both of them are good stuff! IMO, NoScript has more of a learning curve but to me it's worth taking the time to get to know it. With Adblock Plus, it just a matter of subscribing to the filter that best meets your needs (EasyList USA if you are in the states).

Funny story, my wife and kids took a trip recently. While they were at one of relative's residence, my youngest child wanted to use their PC. My relative decided that it was alright for her to do so and she proceeded to surf the web like she normally does at home.

Her web surfing usually involves visiting various sites that allow you to play games online (Webkinz, Disney, Nickelodeon and few others that are not as well known). Well, she was on one of the lesser known sites and my relative happened to check to see what she was doing. After doing so he immediately called my wife to ask her why we let her use that particular site. It seems that a lot of the advertising that was being displayed was not necessarily appropriate for kids.

My relative is strictly a Windows person and basically does not use any other browser than the IE. My wife explained to him that our child didn't see those ads when she was on the PC at home and it confused the heck out of him! "How is your husband blocking those ads?", he asked.

Unfortunately, no one could tell me the identity of the site once they returned from their trip. I was already monitoring my child's usage but have since begun to watch her even closer to see what sites she visits. By doing so I have identified and blocked at least two after testing them in IE that looked like sites that could be used to launch attacks at unsuspecting visitors. More than likely, the ads were what was being used to initiate the attacks. I would have never known if the incident had not occurred when they were away due to Adblock Plus.

I now have logs created that let me know every site that is visited from my network and proactively test them in IE & FF as time permits. If one of them looks suspicious, I block it. Sometimes it feels like I leave my job and come home to a second job of maintaining my home network. The task is much easier than it used to be as quite a bit of my chores (backups, virus scans, etc.) are now automated. They are predetermined by the schedule that is configured on that PC. It's worth it though. I rarely run into any problems and when I do, it's usually pretty easy for me to recover from them.....

So to read anything on the forum I have to look down past the OP and see if it was quoted so I can actually read it. It's more than annoying and this website is my homepage not only bc the Dolphins are my team but because I love the comedy, parody, and even the annoying Jets and Bills fans talking out of their ***. I used windows XP if that helps anything and I use Firefox so please help me out.

unfortunately, due to all the advertisements, a few regulars on here have gotten viruses on finheaven.. About five minutes ago I opened up a thread and was redirected to some wierd site for the 4th time today... I was just curious as to what the admins were going to do to fix this issue as i have gotten 2 bad viruses from the site in 3 months. it sucks because It's starting to become a liability to come on finheaven

Readers Digest version:

a) If you haven't already switch to firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html).
b) You're not done yet, now go get NoScript (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722).
Once installed for this site Allow "finheaven.com" and "Yahooapis.com" Only
c) almost there, now get Adblock Plus (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865).
d) Be sure you are running Anti Virus software. Myself I prefer to stay as far away from Norton or Macafreeze as I can. The reason is they are very intrusive and can cause more problems than they fix. Myself I run AVG but there are plenty of other quality anti Virus applications out there.

Here are a couple vids to help you out.

You hit this on the head! Its been weeks now, and my computer still will freeze up every once in awhile (although I havent gotten another trojan). I mean I have been thinking about joining VIP for awhile. But like someone else said before, originally if you signed up you wouldnt see the ads, so than more ppl signed up (I assume). Well what garentee do we have that rules wont change again? And you will have to pay for VIP Plus or we will once again get bombarded with popups?

Plus, if I was a new comer to this sight and got hit with all the pop ups and what not, there would be no chance in hell I would pay for VIP. It drops the integrity of the site down a "notch" or two (IMO).

I understand the site needs money to run. But isnt there a way you can filter these pop ups so they are safe for everyones PCs without being forced to change the way we browse the internet?

I'm not making this thread to focus on the ads that cover the right corner of every first post, that speaks for itself how bad it is...

But I keep getting re-directed to junk websites and sometimes it asks "are you sure you want to redirect from this page" which is not supposed to happen, leading me to believe I'm getting spyware or something...

I understand the site needs to make money but the ads could easily be moved an inch or two to the right, not covering up the post, and something needs to be done about this spyware! I'm worried about visiting this site these days..

That's what I can't seem to figure out. If you're only getting the redirects on FH and no other site, it doesn't sound like a Spyware Virus that's been installed on your computer. I do alot of downloading through Vuze so I've had my fair share of Spyware, and they usually redirect you no matter what site your on, or in most cases, open IE up themselves as well as slow down your computer alot. If this is just redirecting from Finheaven only, that seems a bit odd indeed.

Tip to my Dolphin brothers ....

Install these 2 Freeware Programs (they both defend in different ways) & Update them weekly (the free versions have to be updated manually).

I've had great success with them for years. Just google up the free dloads.
I'm a techie & they were recommended to use together on several tech sites.

SpywareBlaster
Spybot (Search and Destroy)
(If you don't have a virus program: use AVG free version .. one of the good ones)

I don't want to be preachy, but consider these facts & think!! ....
- Yes, I've seen alot of viruses, spyware, & crap on this site ... its inevitable where alot of people visit ... not necessarily the mods faults (like swine flu, you gonna blame Sears cause you caught it there!! lol)
- Remember, this is just a nuisance, what if they steal your personal info!!!!!
- If you're getting infected be thankful to finheaven they woke you up to a problem that's everywhere on the Web & you just learned you need to protect yourself ... you're NOT Protected!!
- There's alot of different good software (& more opinions) & all evolves over time getting better or worse. Good free stuff I find as good as pay. Never hurts to always learn & find new stuff, ask tech friends in the know ... i.e. I also use the mentioned AdBlock Plus for FireFox ... it appeared one day & I said HELLo YES!!, as FireFox wants to compete by having a good product.

Comment to the guy who said the virus pissed off his boss: What kind of a dumbaz co. is NOT protected by IT Dept.,that's a co. responsibility ... he should THANK you!!! The threats here are chicken-doody & there's bigger threats to co.s.

Made this a little long, but I'm a Silicon Valley dude who can go on for pages :chuckle:, who just wants to help my Dolphin Brothers!! Go Phins & wup some NuhUh-Leans Ain'ts:woot:

Hey Vaark,

I have been checking out WOT on one of my PCs since you mentioned it. It's a nice extension but I'm not to sure how accurate those site ratings are. Case in point, this site comes up with a rating of the highest level of green but I'm sure that several members would beg to differ.

The ratings are determined by users who visit the sites in question. WOT is still helpful. I'm gonna keep running it for a while before making a decision on whether or not to install it on all of my machines.

The other staff and I have the highest desire to keep the ads as discreet as possible and when the ad hosting company puts something out that we hear valid complaints about, we contact the owner about fixing it.

Recently when the reports of virus laden ads came up from numerous sources we investigated it as a staff (often signing in under regular names, or browsing while logged out) to see what the fuss was/is about. At the end of the day I personally couldn't get one popup or slide out ad to mess up my machine, but where there is smoke there is fire, so we requested that the offending ads be pulled down.

Keebali (the owner's company) pulled down one of the ad servers that had popups/unders and from what we've been able to gather it should be fixed.

Unfortunately as many here know, we cannot go ad-less and nor can any other site that has as much traffic as our site generates. I wish it were otherwise, but in the end I'd rather have finheaven with ads (even annoying ads) than no finheaven at all. that being said we'll continue to monitor the effect these ads have on the members who have to view them and if something inappropriate comes up on the ads we'll do what we can to get it changed ASAP.

If Ads are still giving people problems, please let us know what anti-virus you are using, which web browser an if at all possible, screenshot of what ads were running when you got the warning/virus. Thank you.

And for those of us who do not have enough free space to upload a virus program? The fact is, the site should be trusted. I dont need a virus program to go to google, or si.com, or msnbc.com.. so why would I download one just for here.. Seems to me its just an excuse for the admin's to not take care of the real problem which is getting rid of the viruses...

I just got one on my other lap top. The screen froze up, so I turned my computer off. When I rebooted my computer I got this screen that asked if I would like to start my computer in safe mode, restore the system from a previously saved spot (or something like that) or continue as normal. I did all the choices and my computer goes to the Windows XP Pro load screen, and than black screen of DEATH. I consulted my IT guy and he is taking a look at it. Sounds like a virus entered my dell support drivers (?). I am not a computer expert and dont know what that means. But it is what it is.

It seems like I have the most issues when I have multiple windows open. I just dont know what to do anymore. I love Finheaven. I am addicted but I cant be here if it is gunna screw up my computer.

dolpns13 (http://www.finheaven.com/forums/../member.php?u=12011), you're 100% correct. It is out of control.

But reality is my post above yours ... if you don't protect yourSELF, you're NOT protected. Not taking sides, just helping my Dolphin Brothers.
Cheers & GO Phins!!

FYI ... I wrote a longer blurb in the thread below this one that's worth the read about malicious crapola ... The ads bad, but the spyware(?) is getting out of control! (http://www.finheaven.com/forums/f9/the-ads-bad-but-the-spyware-is-getting-out-of-control-260662.html) p4

Maybe you can get rid of some of the stuff that you are aren't using to clear up hard drive space? Just a thought. And, you're wrong. If you have a PC that is going to connect to the internet on a regular basis, having some type of security on that machine is a necessity. If you don't, you're just asking for trouble....

Like Google, SI or MSNBC. No site is safe from potential contamination. Some may be better at preventing & recovering from infections but all sites are at risk. Shoot, even the government sites get hacked!

Seriously Finheaven, what the hell is up with [all] these horrible [ads. I like to think I'm a patient and understanding individual, I really do. I know that's not even remotely true, but come on. I've put off posting about this for nearly THREE weeks now. Well, I'm sick of it. I come here to discuss the ]Dolphins[, not to be redirected to A) "Your system has viruses, download our virus now for a free virus scan!", B) "pdf is opening", C) "Norton has just blocked an attack on your computer", D) "ChinaTV for all your Ramen viewing needs!", or E) popups.

Don't get me wrong, I realize sites need ad revenue, I really do. Flashing seizure-inducing .gif ads created by five year olds are annoying, but I can live with them. I will not, however, put up with incessant virus-laden ads that, though] they pose little threat to [me because I close them and have a good anti-virus program, are a complete nuisance and simply irresponsible to be left on] any decent [site. I have never known a si]te[ with this m]a[ny visitors to be so negligent concerning har]m[ful ads for their users.

There are also those ads on the side of each page that block part of the first po]s[t of every page! Why must] we [put up with all of these! I actually could put up with them, but ]can't [we get rid of the ones that cause popups and/or redirects? There's ]even [ads on here that attempt to immediately download a virus. I could give a ]pass [for the ones that don't do all that and are simply in the way and incredibly unappealing, if there weren't all these others, but this site has BOTH! I think the owner of this site has really dropped ]the ball[on this issue.

Anyways, I'm sure nobody will be so stupid as to post "Upgrade to VIP if you don't like the ads!", will they? :err: I mean, it's obvious I'm complaining about a legitimate failure to protect users from viruses on this site, and not about the fact that there are ads. I don't know, maybe a few people out there do feel that cheapskates like me deserve to be subject to viruses for browsing a forum without ponying up the green.

Also, I'll stick around long enough to see if anyone responds without reading the thread :chuckle:]

I've checked finheaven forums, Not saying that something hasn't sneaked by, but there are anti-virus programs that give false positives. Myself I've surfed as vip, non vip, admin, etc using windows 7 and Avg and haven't had one hiccup.

Next time it comes up I will, then... later... and I can't on the ones that popup the "Your computer is infected, scanning now!" Because I have to close the whole tab to get out of them...

Thanks for the advice, you wise old sage you. Clearly there is nothing wrong with virus-filled ads on free sites. It's just how the internet works I guess! Let me go tell all the other free sites I use about this riveting news, they'll be happy to hear this turn of events, I think.

well, if our site has ad companies that are hosting ads that have virus redirects/popup/popunders we definately would like to get that fixed.

Could you screenshot the finheaven page please so we can see which ads are showing at the time you get a redirect, pop-up, or warning? The ads are different each time, so we need to figure out which one(s) is causing the problems.

I just refreshed the main Miami Dolphins talk boards page and got redirected to yellow.com, a yellow pages website. This is new as I'm usually taken to China TV.

edit: just got http://www.travian.us as well, not sure what ads are causing these because I have adblock so the ads are blocked most of the time.

i dont know how to screen shot:ponder:
every modern keyboard has a "print screen" button close to the number keypad. hit that button, then open MS paint... "control+V button when paint is open." save it to your desktop. then upload it to photobucket etc and provide a link.

just make sure you don't have any personal info in the screenie. if you do "paint it out"

Where it is taking you is only the effect, we're trying to find the cause. That's why we need the screenshot so we can find the source of the redirect. We can't really do much with knowing where it takes you. Please follow Wildbill's instruction's above for assistance in creating a screenshot if you don't know how.
