and why was he so damn awful here ? Was Wannstedt more to blame then we know ?

He sure has put Minnesota in prime time now. They have a very good chance at a Super Bowl run this year. I think the only 2 teams that are better than Minnesota in the NFC are the NY Giants and the Saints. Look at all the the players he's brought into that team. He definitely looks like he knows what he's doing. Traded for Jared Allen, drafted Peterson, got a healthy Brett Favre out of retirement.

I was thinking about the very same thing last week and concluded that Spielman, by default was little more than Wannschmuck's handmaiden in waiting. Given some autonomy, he's done well by the Vikings for sure.

It seems likely, for all the slagging he gets, Brad Childress is a better evaluator of talent than Dave Wannstedt was and he and Rick Spielman can work together in a much more productive manner than Spielman and Wannstedt could. Either that or he's able to operate better at lower temperatures.

I thin Wanny was way too big of a negative influence plus I think he's learned some about compensation since then.
